Ferrari : improvement is a must That is the view of team principal Stefano Domenicali who thinks that an immediate leap forward in performance is now essential even though Fernando Alonso is just 10 points off the lead of the drivers’ championship. “Clearly we cannot be happy with the way our season began but, after the winter tests, we knew the first four races would be very tough,” he told Ferrari’s official website. “We managed to limit the damage, especially in the drivers’ championship, in which Fernando Alonso is fifth, just 10 points off the leader. However, it is equally clear that now we must step up a gear, right from the next race. “Our engineers are well aware of this and
are working day and night to give our drivers a much more competitive car than we have seen on track in these first four races.” Ferrari is set to bring some major upgrades to its F2012 for both next week’s test at Mugello, and the Spanish Grand Prix which it hopes will allow it to start challenging much nearer the front of the grid. Domenicali said that team’s development programme was still not finalised though, and it was possible that not all the new parts would be ready for Mugello. “The coming days will be very important, during which the primary objective will be to push as hard as possible on the development of the car,” he said. “Next week we have three days of testing at Mugello, but it’s not definite that all the updates planned for Barcelona will be seen then. We must try and make the most of every minute available to us to increase the performance of the F2012.”

Jerez. “Since Qatar I’ve been working on the arm pump issue I experienced in the race and it’s definitely feeling better,” Stoner explained. “We’ve treated it the same way as when I had it in 2010 at Silverstone so I’m hoping it won’t be a problem for us this weekend.” The reigning world champion said he was also hoping Honda could improve its chatter issues at the Spanish circuit. “We still have some issues that we really need to resolve with the bike, especially the chattering in the entrance and exit of the corner,” he added. “When we solve these we believe we will have a very competitive package. “After a difficult race in Qatar, I’m looking forward to Jerez. We had a very good pre-season test there, it’s a track that hasn’t been so good for me in the past so the fact we were able to hold a good pace there in testing has given us a lot of confidence.” Stoner’s team-mate Dani Pedrosa said he would be targeting an improved qualifying performance at Jerez, having lined up on the third row in Qatar. “We need to be very focused and have a good qualifying session in order to start the race in a good position,” he said. “We had a great race in Qatar and to start the season on the podium is important, but we cannot relax, we will be aiming for another strong race this weekend.” Honda MotoGP rider Casey Stoner of Australia rides during the qualifying session at the Qatar MotoGP Grand Prix at Losail International Circuit in Doha April 7, 2012.

Plastic waste free on 2013
Goal seems impossible to reach
Bali Post
DENPASAR - Waste problem in Bali is just like a time bomb ready to explode. Of the 10,000 cubic meters of waste produced per day by Bali, more than 50 percent is untreated and scattered. Of the total existing waste, 10-12 percent is plastic waste and only a small fraction of it can be well managed.

Stoner sure Qatar issue will be solved 2Casey Stoner is confident that he and Honda can overcome the chatter and arm pump issues which blighted his defence of his MotoGP crown in the 2012 season opener in Qatar. The Australian led most of the race, only to develop an arm pump problem which slowed his pace and allowed both Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and his teammate Dani Pedrosa to slip past into first and second. H av i n g s u ff e r e d a n d rectified similar problems in 2010, Stoner says he is confident the work done since Qatar will ensure there is no repeat of the arm issue this weekend at

Although there has been a declaration of Bali Government to combat plastic waste by the discourse ‘plastic waste-free Bali 2013,’ but it is considered a mere discourse and seems unable to be realized considering the time left is getting closer and no apparent efforts made for that. Chairman of the Center for Environmental Research (PPLH) of the Udayana University, Dr. Wayan Arthana, said that ‘Bali Clean and Green program’ discoursed by Bali Government could not be realized. To that end, the Bali Government also declared the ‘plastic waste-free Bali 2013.’ Related to the plan, it indeed got a lot of support from various parties. However, the Bali Government itself did not indicate an obvious effort in the field whereas the target was still only one year to go. He considered the discourse would not work because the clear and focused efforts to realize it did not exist. “So far, the endeavor for that purpose lies between clear and unclear whereas the target is only a year. Seeing from what has been done by the Bali Government, I am pessimistic it can be achieved. But, at least it can raise the awareness of the community in 2013 although the total target cannot be achieved,” said the lecturer of the Master of Science in the environmental studies of the Udayana University. Further, the doctoral graduate from the University of Reading (UK) said that many obstacles were faced for program realization. Firstly, it related to behavioral problem of people that did not realize if the plastic waste was harmful to the environment. Besides, littering behavior was still a part of the society that could not be controlled. Secondly, reduction in the use of plastic kept on promoting, but so far the items used to substitute the plastic had not widely been happening. He added that promoting the plastic waste-free Bali also meant to clean up Bali from the plastic debris previously buried in the soil that could reduce the soil fertility. “Bali cannot just declare itself free from plastic waste on the surface, while a lot of plastic waste is buried underground,” he said.
