Lorenzo: This year will be different
Indonesia automotive market not conducive Page 8
Last year’s French Grand Prix marked the end of Jorge Lorenzo’s early season podium run, but the Spaniard believes he has an excellent chance of keeping his 2012 streak alive in this weekend’s return. Just as last year, the Factory Yamaha star has claimed a win and two runner-up places heading in to the Le Mans round. But the 1000cc M1 is a much more potent package than last year’s final 800cc version and Lorenzo is confident he will be better equipped for the stop-go circuit layout. “We arrive in good shape having always been in the first two positions in the three races of the year so far, I want to keep this going in Le Mans,” said Lorenzo. “Last year we struggled, especially in acceleration but I feel that this year is going to be a little different. “It’s a good track for my riding style so we will try to fight for the win again but always thinking about the Championship.”
Lorenzo is just one point behind reigning world champion Casey Stoner (Honda) who won at Le Mans last year. “After three strong races and a very close Championship so far we are looking forward to going to France,” said Lorenzo’s team manager Wilco Zeelenberg. “We had a tough race last year and struggled a lot but the year before was a strong victory. “Jorge likes the track so we are curious to see how the 1000cc bike behaves this time as we have traditionally performed well there. We hope to return to the successful rhythm Yamaha has had at Le Mans.” Prior to last year’s fourth place, Lorenzo had taken MotoGP wins at Le Mans in 2009 and 2010.

HIV/AIDS becomes very worrying
Bali on ‘red alert’ Bali Post
DENPASAR - Bali is ranked second nationally against the prevalence of HIV/AIDS. Terror of HIV/AIDS continues to haunt Bali, especially in keeping with the increasingly widespread illicit cafés along with their sex workers. The lineup of Commission IV of the Bali House in charge of health matters assessed the presence of illicit cafés and house of
sex workers should be limited, strictly controlled and regularly raided to check whether the sex workers had been infected by
HIV/AIDS. A member of Commission IV of the Bali House, Wayan Rawan Atmaja, said on Monday (May 14) if the HIV/AIDS issue in Bali was like an iceberg phenomenon that looked small on the surface, but large at the bottom. According to him, the high incidence of HIV/AIDS in Bali ranked second nationally was inseparable from
the rise of prostitution and illicit cafés along with the sex workers alleged to have become the highest transmitters. This Golkar politician also confirmed that in the future there should be a restriction against the illicit cafés which had now been starting to reach the remote villages. Continued on page 6

US pop star Lady Gaga (2L) is welcomed by Japanese fans upon her arrival at Narita international airport as part of her Asian tour on May 8, 2012.
Police denied Lady Gaga concert’s permit Associated Press
JAKARTA — Lady Gaga might have to cancel her sold-out show in Indonesia because police worry her sexy clothes and dance moves undermine Islamic values and will corrupt the country’s youth. National police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said Tuesday the permit for her June 3 “Born This
Way Ball” concert — the biggest show on her Asian tour — had been denied. Jakarta police recommended the denial. The local promoter, Michael Rusli, could not immediately be reached for comment. Earlier, he told The Associated Press it would be “regrettable” if police didn’t give the clearance. Fans have been eagerly await-
ing Lady Gaga, he said, with every seat in Jakarta’s 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium scooped up — half in the first two hours of sales. Indonesia, a secular country of 240 million people, has more Muslims than any other in the world. Though it has a long history of religious tolerance, a small extremist fringe has become more vocal in recent years.
Hard-liners have loudly criticized Lady Gaga, saying the suggestive nature of her show threatened to undermine the country’s moral fiber. Some threatened to use physical force to prevent her from stepping off the plane. “I’m very disappointed,” said Mariska Renata, who had tickets to the Jakarta show. Continued on page 6
