Vermeulen replaces Edwards for Le Mans Australia’s Chris Vermeulen will stand in for the injured Colin Edwards for the Forward Racing squad in the forthcoming French Grand Prix at Le Mans. Vermeulen, who has more than four years of experience in MotoGP, scored Suzuki’s only four-stroke win in the class at the French circuit back in 2007. Edwards, who has now left hospital following the successful surgery on his broken collarbone, has been advised by regular MotoGP surgeon Dr Javier Mir not to race until the Spanish Grand Prix, a fortnight after Le Mans. Vermeulen said he was grateful for the
opportunity to once again compete in the sport’s premier class, particularly at a circuit at which he has such fond memories. “First of all I would like to wish Colin a speedy recovery,” the 29-year-old said. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to race back in MotoGP with the Forward Racing team. “I am looking forward to my first time on the bike being at Le Mans, a circuit that holds great memories for me including a victory in 2007. I am excited to be racing at the top level of motorcycling again and look forward to working with the team.” Forward Racing’s managing director

Marco Curioni said he expected Vermeulen to immediately find a good feeling with the team. “In this unfortunate situation that sees Colin Edwards unable to race until the Catalunya GP, we take the opportunity to involve Chris Vermeulen in the team for Le Mans,” Curioni said. “Several members of the team have previously worked with him and I believe that Chris will immediately find a good feeling with the team. [He] has previously won at Le Mans and knows the track well. I would like to wish Chris good luck and send all my best wishes for a quick recovery to Colin, who is on his way back home.”

Dortmund thrash Bayern in Cup final to win double Reuters
BERLIN - Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund further challenged Bayern Munich’s hold over German football on Saturday by crushing their rivals 5-2 with a treble by Poland’s Robert Lewandowski to lift the German Cup and land their first double. It was Dortmund’s fifth straight win over Bayern, who were at full strength ahead of next Saturday’s Champions League final against Chelsea, as they staked an even bigger claim to take over from the Bavarians as Germany’s dominant domestic force. Shinji Kagawa fired Dortmund into a third minute lead after a double defensive blunder by Luiz Gustavo, before Dutchman Arjen Robben levelled with a penalty in front of more than 75,000 fans at Berlin’s Olympic stadium. Mats Hummels’ penalty in the 41st minute restored Dortmund’s lead and their top scorer Lewandowski struck either side of the break and again after Bayern winger Franck Ribery briefly cut the deficit with a sensational low drive in the 75th. “We at Dortmund could not have imagined a better final,” the club’s beaming coach Juergen Klopp told reporters.

Dortmund captain Sebastian Kehl lifted the trophy to mark his side’s first German Cup triumph since 1989 as his team mates cheered wildly with German president Joachim Gauck sucked into the celebrations. “We were ice cold in our execution, scored great goals. It’s difficult to put into words what we’re feeling at this moment,” said Klopp after his first German Cup victory as a coach. Dortmund, who have now won the Cup three times, also beat Bayern in the race for the league title, earning a record 81 points as they clinched their second successive Bundes-

liga crown earlier this month. “We should not be complaining as our overall defensive behaviour was catastrophic,” Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes told reporters. “We have to accept that we did not deserve to win. But now we have a different target in our sights and until the Champions League final we will recover from the shock.” “That will be a completely different game,” said Heynckes.
It took Dortmund only three minutes to send their yellow-clad fans into a frenzy when Jakub Blaszczykowski pounced after Gustavo twice gave away possession and cut the ball back to Kagawa, who scored on what could be his last game for Dortmund. The hugely gifted 23-year-old Japan international, who said he would decide whether to move to the English Premier League after the final, tapped home from close range with Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson watching from the stands.

JAKARTA — Indonesian special forces and professional climbers scaled down a treacherous ravine on a volcano face Sunday in search of the missing flight recorder that could explain the deadly crash of a Russian-made jetliner. The Sukhoi Superjet-100 had 45 people aboard when it crashed into Mount Salak on Wednesday during a flight intended to woo potential Indonesian airline buyers. All aboard are presumed dead, and helicopters have been ferrying

the bottom of the 500-meter-deep (1,500-foot-deep) ravine and were trying to reach it. A landslide was triggered when the Superjet slammed into the side of the mountain, and much of the wreckage including the engine and landing gear were covered in rocks and dirt, the station reported. The Superjet is Russia’s first new model of passenger jet since the fall of the Soviet Union two decades ago. Continued on page 6

the victims’ remains to Jakarta, the capital, for identification since Saturday. It’s unclear what caused the crash about halfway through a planned 50-minute flight, so finding the “black box” recorder is a
priority. Dozens of Indonesian and Russian investigators were searching Sunday in a ravine near where the plane’s scattered wreckage was found on the slopes of the longdormant volcano, 80 kilometers (50 miles) southwest of Jakarta, top civil aviation official Herry Bakti Gumay said. Local news station TVOne reported that search teams had spotted a device that might be the black box lodged in a tree near
DENPASAR - Land lotting for the sake of residential area is increasingly ubiquitous, chiefly in Denpasar and Badung. Many of them annex green belt due to poor supervision against the building permit. Ideally, projection on the need of land for housing should
be recorded associated with the carrying capacity of Bali in wider context. Besides, the licensing and supervision process should also be made tighter so there would be no building established without permission and breaking up the green belt. Such opinion was revealed by two spatial order observers, namely Prof. Dr. I Made Alit Karyawan
Salain from Udayana University and Prof. Dr. I Wayan Runa from Warmadewa University. Prof. Made Alit Karyawan Salain said it was necessary to record the land projection for housing need in relation to the carrying capacity of Bali at large. Further, the housing development and lotting should be adjusted to
the needs, carrying capacity and existing provisions or regulations. Basically, the area designated for residence might be carried out as along as complying with the rules and paying attention to the environmental aspects and accommodating the local wisdom of Tri Hita Karana.
