KARANGASEM - On exploring the beginning of 2012, Balinese residents hope the sustainability of Bali can be well maintained where one of them is through the press freedom. To realize it, hundreds of Balinese residents said prayers together in Besakih Temple, Karangasem on Sunday (Jan 8). In the midst of pouring rain, the chanting of mantra was spoken for the sustainability of the press freedom recently set to be threatened.

From the morning, hundreds of Balinese residents from all over Bali set to come to Besakih Temple for pilgrimage. Although being flushed by rain, the enthusiasm of Balinese residents never
subsided to do the worship. The worship was also attended by the members of the Community Coalition for the Press Freedom and Human Rights. Through the worship, the Supreme God was
expected to endow his enlightenment, guidance and strength so the press freedom could remain steady for the sustainability becoming the ideals of Balinese residents. The first worship was held in the Be-
sakih ashram and then continued to Batumadeg Temple of Besakih. During the procession took place, it rained incessantly. However, the worship remained to come about solemnly under the showering rain. It was led by Ida Pedanda Gede Ketut Keniten from Griya Dawan Klungkung. From Batumadeg Temple, the worship was resumed to Pengubengan Temple, about 2 kilometers to the southwest. Continued on page 6
