the discovery The objective To discover the extent to which a school’s vision of global education has been borne out in the actual programming and catalyze conversations around the purpose, form, and content of future programs.
Process Surveying Stakeholders
Convening Faculty Voices
Through a series of online surveys, we obtain information about the expectations regarding global education programs on the part of faculty, parents, students, and other stakeholders. While this process requires both time and effort, the result will be more meaningful programmatic design.
We bring together faculty who want to be a part of integrating global education throughout the curriculum and who are willing to put in the time to ‘get it right’. We engage with skeptics and critical voices to avoid the trap of groupthink and to ensure that the plans can ‘stand up’ to review.
Focusing Protocols Conducting structured protocols is the optimal method to reveal and clarify our thinking around such potentially ambiguous concepts as global citizenship, cultural competency, empathy, global significance, and international awareness.
Taking Stock and Moving Forward The data points and protocol outcomes become the basis for a frank assessment of the successes and failures of our approach to global education. By placing these reports in context with the extant literature, we ensure that future plans are based on sound pedagogy and research.
