THE SOLAR ECLIPSE

Nashville Center

Trevell J.: I really liked the Eclipse. I put on my 3D glasses and looked at it. It looked like the sun had a shadow covering it. I laid down on a mat and put on my 3D glasses, and I enjoyed the sight with my friends. I heard the next one will arrive in about 20 years. I am patient.

Abdul S.: I loved watching the Eclipse I saw the moon covering up the sun I wore glasses to protect my eyes because the sun was bright. I felt happy while watching the Eclipse in the park with my friends. I felt good.

On Monday April 8, 2024 I saw the Solar Eclipse. It was beautiful. It was the Bomb! Cool! Awesome! The moon was 1 to 2 inches to cover the whole sun. I held up a sign that says Honk For The Eclipse. I had fun.

THE WAR

I was at the Art Institute of Chicago and there was a protest. We didn't know the protest was going to happen. It made me sad because it reminded me of my mom ' s death. I didn't like it. I saw a sign that said Cut Ties with Bloody Crown! They are protesting because of the war in Palestine and Israel. No one got hurt during the protest - it was peaceful and we didn't know it was going on and it made some people sad. I got my staff to help me and we went outside because

it was loud, and we waited on people's rides. Protest can let people know about the war or somethings going on overseas. It's lets people know what's going on in the world. A lot of things can happen and change.

TWO VOLCANO BUFFET

Today I went to the buffet with some of my peers. I was really excited to eat chicken nuggets and fries. That's my favorite food

RACHEL’S ART EXPERIENCE

When we first got to the Art Institute of Chicago museum it was amazing. It was kind of new for me because it was the first time I’ve ever been there and it was amazing. First we went upstairs and got some coffee, I told him I only had cash (no credit or debit card) and he gave me a cup of coffee. Then I made art at the Ryan Learning Center and I made a little box home and it was great and a great experience. Then we got lunch before we got to the art. After we finished eating we went upstairs and saw the art. The exhibit is called Threaded Visions: Contemporary Weaving from the Collection. One of the weavings looked like a snake the way it was shaped. We saw a weaving that was gold like a treasure that you could find when you are camping. Like a map! Then we saw a weaving of a young women who had rumors spread about them on the internet. Should she believe it, or should she delete it? I saw a weaving that was very interesting because the one I saw looked like game of checkers. It made me look at the weaving even closer to see what it was about. And then on the other side, it looked like the same thing, but in a different area.

After we saw the weavings we went over to the art paintings. I saw with my eyes a painting that was interesting to me, it had grandchildren and a grandmother. That really got me. And one of them was sitting on her lap and the other was on the side of her, I think she was feeding her. I think they love her so much and they want to be with her before she leaves this earth.

We came downstairs and we got our coats and stuff and that's when the protest happened. It was interesting because I never seen something like that before in my life, but I didn't want to know about it because I didn't want my friends to see that because it made them sad. They were talking about how people were dying in Palestine and people were shooting. They were on the floor in a circle symbolizing death, and some were upstairs holding banners and flags and protesting. So, I took my friends up to the front to get some fresh air so they couldn't see what was going on. I want to protect them from seeing what was going on. We have a choice to see that or if we don't want to see that. It made me think why is the world going so crazy that they had to do this now while people were enjoying themself? I want to focus on the future. They want to find the answer to the question (the protesters) were asking about the money and why they are sending that money. They should send the money to the people who are living in the streets and nursing homes.
