


Founded over 50 years ago, The Phillips Academy (TPA) is a WASC accredited non-public school serving middle and high school special education students from the greater San Francisco Bay Area. With approximately 35 staff members and a $3.7 million budget, TPA attests that students do their best when they have a voice in their education. At TPA, students make significant progress in achieving their educational and social-emotional goals
Defined by its consistently positive environment and dedicated, well-trained staff, TPA blends data-based therapeutic interventions with genuine, individualized care and concern for each child. When surveyed, 94% of our students stated that they felt safe at school and 82% stated that they felt sure that staff cared about them, further demonstrating that The Phillips Academy has created a unique nurturing community where all children can learn and grow

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director of The Phillips Academy is chief executive officer of the organization, responsible for the overall strategy and success of the organization. As a visionary and collaborative leader, the Executive Director works closely with the Board, educational staff, clinical staff, educational professionals, parents and community to advance each student’s educational goals and its overall strategic vision Working with a leadership team comprised of the School Principal, Clinical Manager and Business Manager, the Executive Director provides full oversight of all academic, clinical, and business matters of the School
The ideal candidate for The Phillips Academy has a deep understanding of the education system and previous experience leading a charter, private, public or non-public school. The candidate should also have knowledge and expertise with government contracts. With a proven track record in leading change management and team building, the new Executive Director will be able to foster a strong, motivated organizational culture rooted by the school's values and vision As a strong communicator and strategist, the ideal Executive Director will also be the lead relationship builder for the school, connecting with students, families, staff, board members, partners and the greater community to build a network that supports the school and its students
