Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Child Development Services, the Regional Director of Child Development Services plans, organizes, and directs the daily operations of all Head Start and Early Head Start Child Development, California Department of Education and California Department of Social Services programs and sites within the Ventura region
The Regional Director works onsite at the Child Development Center in Ventura and is responsible for all operations for the $5M + budget With a visionary outlook to meet the urgent need for high quality childcare in Ventura and neighboring counties, the Regional Director will focus on scaling goals in funding, operations, staffing and partnerships in the region
They will possess a clear vision and deep passion for early childhood education and supporting families Their vision will guide the development of programs and initiatives and inspire others to join their cause

The ideal candidate for the position of Regional Director of Child Development Services is an experienced professional with a proven track record of expanding services to address pressing community needs They have successfully secured funding, implemented projects, and ensured the long-term sustainability of initiatives With a deep integration within the community, they adopt a holistic approach that focuses on the "whole child" and "whole family " Their comprehensive understanding of community dynamics allows them to effectively integrate services within the local context Recognizing the unique challenges faced by homeless and low-income families, they prioritize serving this population and provide educational support and comprehensive assistance to support their emotional and social well-being
In addition to their community integration, they will demonstrate leadership experience at different levels of government They have the ability to navigate diverse contexts and collaborate effectively with stakeholders Building coalitions and establishing robust and mutually beneficial Interagency Agreements are among their core skills This expertise is crucial for fostering collaboration among organizations and maximizing the impact of services
Furthermore, the candidate has a strong track record of successfully securing funding from state and federal sources This skill is vital for expanding services, developing new programs, and ensuring the sustainability of initiatives They have a comprehensive understanding of the funding landscape and are adept at developing compelling proposals

Easterseals child care services provide young children with the optimal setting for successful learning and development
Placing children with and without disabilities in the same learning environment gives children the opportunity to experience diversity As a microcosm of the real world, inclusive settings help children to understand, respect and accept each other early in life, teaching them age-appropriate communication and social skills
According to Vickie Robinson, Developmental Therapist at Easterseals DuPage and Fox Valley, the benefits of inclusive child care include, “meaningful friendships; increased understanding and acceptance of diversity; respect for others with diverse characteristics; an ability to help others; and the preparation of all students for adult life in an inclusive society ”
