AI VS AI Cyber security is a major concern for the enterprises today. Especially with the growing deployment of Edge Computing and IoT devices, security concerns have really become severe. Vulnerability has become manifold. Today no one really knows where the attacks are coming from. Even Insider Threat is also growing at an alarming rate. The answers to this menace have gone beyond the imagination of cyber experts and despite their best of efforts attacks are happening every year and in every industry. People give example of Cyber security as a game of police and criminals. In the case of police and criminals, the police know who the criminals are but in the case of Cybercrime, the criminals are not known. They are everywhere. Therefore, the best answer is AI based security solution where AI software running on today’s powerful processors can zip through more data in minutes than humans could tackle in months and list problems and anomalies immediately. AI can speed up detection of genuine problems, rapidly cross-referencing different alerts and sources of security data. Human cyber security experts will still make the calls on the priorities of the incidents to be handled but can be further helped by AI systems that automatically suggest plans for optimizing responses. Of course, Cyber criminals are smart enough these days to create weapons against the AI based solution to the problem.

COVER STORY

NEXT MONTH SPECIAL

AR AND VR MARKET

The next issue is dedicated to AR and VR market. India would see a lot of AR and VR adoption in various sectors Therefore, we would like to take feedback from the CIOs and vendors and create our judgment on the development of AR and VR Market in India.

They do have AI based bots which can penetrate the system with various forms and sit without any buzz to wait for right and opportune moment to attack the system. If we look at the history of Ransomware – from WannaCry to Petya to Meltdown and Spectre, it has become sophisticated. We remember WannaCry which emerged in 2017 and took down 300,000 computers across 150 countries by encrypting business-sensitive information. Unpatched systems were the cause of this cyber nightmare. Similarly, Petya, the successor of WannaCry exploited the same vulnerability as WannaCry and caused chaos for businesses. But later upgraded to be a wiper and deleted encrypted information. But today, Meltdown and Spectre are totally different. They are processor-based vulnerabilities that can be exploited to secretly eavesdrop on business-sensitive data. It requires OS patches with antivirus compatibility to overcome this challenge. So, the message is that enterprises have to be very cautious about cyber security challenges and if possible, engage certified consultants to guide them in creating a secured enterprise architecture.

Trend Micro First to Deliver XDR Across Email, Network, Endpoint, Server and Cloud Workloads

Trend Micro becomes the first to offer detection and response capabilities integrated across email, network, endpoint, server and cloud workloads. This is designed to give enterprises broader visibility of a risk posture while connecting minor events from different security silos to detect more complex attacks that otherwise remain unnoticed. Connecting detections, telemetry, process data, and network metadata across email, network, endpoint and cloud workloads minimizes manual work and quickly correlates events that humans are unable to process given the onslaught of daily alerts across individual

product silos. Trend Micro’s global threat intelligence adds further relevance and context around event data and is enhanced by specific detection rules from the company’s security experts that target the highest priority threats. In Trend Micro’s XDR solution, the “X” refers to the most extensive sets of data from more protection points, which is critical to find hidden threats. The resulting detections are more accurate, are generated faster and provide better context than ever before. Having one version of the security truth and a standardized schema for interpreting alerts also makes life easier for stretched IT security teams.

Sophos’ new research, ‘RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) Exposed: The Threat That’s Already at your Door’ highlights how attackers are able to find RDP-enabled devices almost as soon as these devices appear on the internet. Sophos deployed 10 geographically dispersed, low-interaction honeypots to measure and quantify RDP-based risks. The honeypots were set-up in California, Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Mumbai, Ohio, Paris, Sao Paulo, Singapore, and Sydney over a 30-day period. On average, the RDP honeypots were hit by 1 attempted attack per six seconds. Sophos has been reporting on cybercriminals exploiting RDP since 2011, and in the past year, cybercriminal gangs behind two of the biggest targeted ransomware attacks, Matrix and SamSam, have almost completely abandoned all other methods of network ingress in favour of using RDP. In the study, 4.3 million login attempts were made at a rate that steadily increased through the 30-day research period. The first honeypot to be discovered, was found in just 1.24 minutes (Paris) and the last one in 15 hours (Singapore).

Athenta Drives Datacenters for an Improved Infrastructure Management

Athenta DCEYE is a solution which was developed to manage a running Datacenter. It is the only DCIM tool in the world, which helps Datacentres to manage operations, administration and management @ 360°. It starts with assets inventorying, which were stranded in different islands in a large Datacentre, limiting their usability and value. It is a tool that can compute the computational power and electrical power simultaneously to finally address the issue of PUE. DCEYE is known for its business intelligence that guarantees to bring down the PUE in any Datacenter, steadily.

Gopal Joshi, Director Sales, Athenta Technologies stated, “In today’s India, Datacentres are the focal point of their organization. Any kind of interruptions in a Datacenter can lead to a tremendous loss for the organization. It is thereby imperative to have an end to end management of Datacentres by breaking the silos between IT and Facilities, while still managing their interdependencies”. “Athenta DCEYE also helps in setting up a central command that can manage, multiple Datacentres in different locations with multi-tenancy feature.” added Joshi. A good DCIM tool is the one that helps the DC manager to get top information of its Datacenter on multi-faceted dashboards prompting necessary actions to resolve issues, once and for all. Under a single umbrella, Athenta’s DCEYE provides IT Service Management (ITSM) that manages the IT tools and applications, inventory, service lifecycle, and monitoring performance, of all assets in the DC; Datacenter Facility Management (DCFM), managing the Interdependent electrical network along with HVAC, UPS’s, DGSET’s, Rack’s, iPDU’s, etc effortlessly.

Bitdefender 2020 Protects Against Cyberbullying and Online Predators

Bitdefender 2020 is now available and it’s designed to protect your kids from one of the threats you can’t monitor: cyberbullies. A brand new “Detection of

Cyberbullying and Online Predators” feature will scan conversations for inappropriate requests and attempts to obtain personal information and a warning can be sent to a parent if it picks up something inappropriate. The main feature of 2020 is Bitdefender’s fightback against the invasion of privacy online, with websites, hackers and nosy companies attempting to glean as much personal information from us as possible. Bitdefender now includes its own browser anti-tracking feature, listing all the information a website is attempting to store and enabling you to withdraw what you do not want it to store, whilst a new Microphone Monitor module reinforces the existing webcam protection. The multi-device Total Security or Family Pack (Internet Security 2020 is PC-only), has an iOS support to block phishing scams, whatever web browser you are using. Currently there are more than 300,000 users across India using Bitdefender solutions.

Cyber Adversaries up the Ante on Evasion and Anti-analysis to Avoid Detection Fortinet has announced the findings of its latest quarterly Global Threat Landscape Report. The research reveals that cybercriminals continue to look for new attack opportunities throughout the digital attack surface and are leveraging evasion as well as anti-analysis techniques as they become more sophisticated in their attempts. The Threat Landscape Index crossed a milestone this quarter. It is up nearly 4% from its original opening position year-over-year. The high point during that year-long timeframe is the peak and closing point of Q2 CY2019. The upsurge was driven by increased malware and 16 ENTERPRISE IT WORLD  AUGUST 2019

exploit activity. “The ever-widening breadth and sophistication of cyber adversaries’ attack methods is an impor-

tant reminder of how they are attempting to leverage speed and connectivity to their advantage. Therefore, it is important for defenders to do the same and to relentlessly prioritize these important cybersecurity fundamentals, to position organizations to better manage and mitigate cyber risks. A security fabric approach across every security element that embraces segmentation and integration, actionable threat intelligence, and automation combined with machine learning is essential to enable these fundamentals to bear fruit,” said Michael Joseph, Director System Engineering, India & SAARC, Fortinet.

VMware Cloud on Dell EMC also offers a bi-directional connection to public clouds for application and data portability via a hybrid cloud control plane.Delivered in a Data Center-as-a-Service model for their on-premises environments, VMware Cloud on Dell EMC is co-engineered and delivered by Dell Technologies with the ongoing service fully managed by VMware. This means organizations can leave infrastructure management, troubleshooting and maintenance to VMware, and instead focus on differentiating their business by building innovative applications. They also can take advantage of enterprise-grade data services, security and resiliency, built into the solution, and provision add-on services such as backup, disaster-recovery and bursting capabilities. Remember VMware is “First & Best” when deployed with Dell Technologies. What are the USPs of these solutions? How does it differ from those offered by your competitors? Organizations deploying Dell Technologies Cloud can:

• Increase agility – Employ familiar VMware tools to provision, govern, automate and orchestrate applications across multiple cloud deployment options. This gives organizations workload placement flexibility through a single operational hub across public, private and edge clouds, backed by a broad, global network of cloud service providers. • Accelerate innovation – Adopt the simple and quick path to deploy hybrid cloud. With VMware Cloud Foundation now available natively on Dell EMC VxRail, Dell Technologies Cloud Platforms offer the industry’s first jointly engineered, hybrid cloud infrastructure stack tightly integrated with VMware’s flexible, full stack HCI architecture. Customers also can opt to extend the cloud experience on-premises by deploying Dell EMC VxBlock 1000 converged infrastructure and Dell Technologies validated storage, compute and networking options. • Improve cloud economics – Manage applications seamlessly across various clouds while saving time and cost by eliminating unnecessary application re-platforming. Organizations also can align how they pay for IT with how they do business through a range of options to buy, rent or consume IT as a service through Dell Financial Services.6 IDC research found that Dell Technologies Cloud can reduce total cost of ownership by up to 47% compared to native public cloud.1 • Help reduce business risk – Enhance confidence in operations through the delivery of IT services backed by built-in security and automated lifecycle management from the cloud vendor enterprises trust with their most critical workloads. Organizations benefit from the experience and trusted solutions of the industry’s top cloud IT infrastructure provider to improve service levels and deliver on business requirements. What market share does Dell Technologies occupy in the Cloud market? According to IDC, Dell EMC ranked #1 with a 27.4% industry share in 2018. In the external storage market, Dell Inc. ranked No.1 in all quarters in 2018, with 24.7% industry share by vendor revenue in Q4. Dell EMC maintained its undisputed leadership in India’s external storage industry by vendor revenue, i.e. nearly 1.5x the nearest competitor. how it is used, and how it is protected. LoginRadius’s CIAM solution currently hosts and approves all of the most commonly used compliance. Our CIAM platform has built-in security features that protect end-user data, accounts, and digital identities. These security features include encryption in transit, encryption at rest, brute force prevention, multi-factor authentication, risk-based authentication, fraud prevention, and threat detection. What are your plans to expand LoginRadius’ market presence in India? LoginRadius has planned to set up its India operations by hiring over 200 technocrats for their Jaipur office by 2020 to capture a $20 billion global market opportunity. transformation. The challenge is to better inform and balance long-term security and current longterm investments. As digital transformation rapidly transforms the business landscape, customers demand a more personalized experience without increasing the security risks to personal information. This requires more transparency in the data collected,

What challenges has LoginRadius faced in the market as a young startup? Rakesh Soni describes his initial days of the startup as “just an idea and a couple of guys”. LoginRadius soon became a full-fledged Indian project based out of Canada “Once we realized that login is a big problem on the internet we needed to develop a proper product. We developed it, coded and went through multiple rounds of testing which included family and friends as subjects”. In the initial time period, it was very hard for the company to get to consumers because it required massive amounts of trust since it was, in the end, a security management company. They started off by developing plugins for content management systems like Joomla and WordPress. These micro websites are where they started getting onto businesses. Once 7 to 8 thousand micro websites had started using the LoginRadius service they decided to directly approach consumers. This is when they knew that their idea was going to be something with massive potential. How did LoginRadius overcome those challenges? Today, with an increase in cyber-attacks globally, Indian enterprises have become aware of the

damages data leaks can cause. But India still has a long way to go, especially as the country is on the cusp of digital transformation. The challenge lies in making customers more aware and balancing long term security with present term investment. There is immense potential and LoginRadius is keen to be a part of the journey. With the advanced tools and mechanisms, we are ensuring that we are always on the top of our competitions. As a provider of a fully managed cloud CIAM solution, LoginRadius prioritizes guaranteed system performance. Most of our clients are growing, especially those in the media and publications, retail and consumer, and travel and hospitality sectors, and LoginRadius recognizes the need for a highly scalable and adaptable platform that can grow with them. The LoginRadius CIAM platform is designed with security as the highest priority, ensuring that customer data and identity are protected without sacrificing performance, availability, or scalability. With digital transformation rapidly changing the business landscape, customers are demanding more personalized experiences without increasing security risks to their personal information. This requires CIAM platforms to be more transparent about the data they collect, how it is being used, and how it is being protected. LoginRadius’ CIAM solution currently holds hosting and data security approval for all of the most commonly used compliances. What is the roadmap for the next year? A few years ago, companies were hesitant towards moving to the cloud, experimenting with smaller applications at first. But in the last few years, it has witnessed a dramatic change. Today, as part of digital transformation, companies are moving most of their IT workload to the cloud. This will create a need for effective customer management platforms that are available on the cloud such as LoginRadius. Awareness about data security and privacy among the general public will also pave the way for companies to adopt state of the art CIAM solutions that not only provides them a competitive edge but is also provides the best in class security and privacy features. We plan to strengthen our research and development (R&D) and business operations team in India by hiring around 200 people in the country by 2020. We are primarily focusing on companies that have demonstrated the adoption of enterprise cloud technologies and care of customer experience and security. AUGUST 2019    ENTERPRISE IT WORLD

CISCO:

THRIVING ON THE POWER OF

ALLIANCES

Last month Cisco hosted the 6th edition of Cisco India Summit as a celebration of its ideology behind building partnerships. From unveiling new partnerships to acknowledging the success of the existing partnerships, the summit was dedicated to the spirit of alliances in the evolving market. BY POOJA JAIN POOJA@ACCENTINFOMEDIA.COM

T

he point of inception for the organization that Cisco has become today, was in 1984 when Leonard Bosack and Sandra Lerner of Stanford University, California, figured out a way to connect their respective computer networks with each other over a local area network within the university campus. The solution that they devised was to find a way for two computer systems with different mediums and language protocols to talk to each other. They developed a router that went on to become Cisco’s initial product. What started in 1984 as a desire to connect different systems, twelve years later turned into a commitment to the channels as a strategic route to the market. By 2001, Cisco had introduced its value based partner program that was supplemented by its profitability programs VIP/OIP/SIP three years later. It took Cisco 26 years of perseverance to venture into the collaborative channels and create its own worldwide partner organization. Since 2015, Cisco has been consistently working on enhancing its partner ecosystem, and now in 2019, it is a force to reckon with in the Digital Transformation journey that is centred on the expansion of the role of its partners. Today, Cisco has over 2300 partners nationwide that range from

Industry Partners, Integrators, Distributors, Service Providers and Consultants to ISVs, MSI/EPCs and Technology. What lies for the organization ahead is an unimpeded expansion of the playing field, wherein Cisco extends its incessant support to its partners in building their transformational capabilities.

POWER OF ALLIANCES The 65 years of Independence have seen the growth of the Indian economy to a $2 Trillion economy. With the rate at which the enterprises are currently progressing, the next ten years hold the promise of turning Indian into a $5 Trillion digital economy. As the enterprises embrace the new world order of Technology, what we are looking forward to, is a steep increase in the digital economic impact from six percent to approximately twenty percent of the GDP in just a period of five years. The question that arises in the face of these statistics is -by what forces will such a monumental growth be driven in the Indian Economy? To address this, Cisco celebrated the ethos of Partnerships in the Cisco India Summit 2019, conducted on 29th – 30th July in Kochi. The theme for the two day conference was ‘Power of Alliances’. looking back to and celebrating the partnerships that Cisco has had for decades, to establishing new enterprise relationships, Cisco continued on its journey of exploring the power of partnerships. “The way forward if you want to grow and keep pace with the innovation on the business side, it is no more about serving old and new customers with existing business models. It is about serving new customers with new business models. That is the change that Cisco wants to bring,” said Sameer Garde, President, India & SAARC. Garde kickstarted the event with a discussion of the three pillar model for market creation that has guided Cisco in all its operations. The three pillars are Programmability of businesses, New GTM and business models and Collaboration &Co-innovation. It is this proactive approach of going the extra mile to reach the customers you thought you could never acquire, that has led Cisco to becoming the market leader that it is today. The event saw a series of groundbreaking announcements being made by the Cisco leaders. The highlight of the Summit though was unveiling of the Cisco-Google alliance to offer high-speed public Wifi in India. In line with Google and Cisco’s shared vision of connecting 1.3 billion Indians to the digital economy, the project has already begun its first phase of implementation in Bengaluru. By September 2019, 200 locations in Bengaluru will be Wi-Fi enabled, followed by another 300 in the second phase. With this initiative, Google and Cisco are looking forward to engaging over 1,750,000,000 new internet users by 2025. “According to a TRAI report, globally there is 1 WiFi hotspot for every 150 people, and in India, 8 million additional hotspots must be installed to achieve the same ratio, creating new market opportunities for infrastructure providers and internet service providers. India has only 52,000 Wi-Fi hotspots today, necessitating a proactive strategy to make high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots ubiquitous across the country,” states Cisco. Google identifies the challenges faced by the Next Billion Users globally, who are majorly a generation of mobile only users. These challenges include high device prices, lack of storage, mobile data constraints and the paucity of locallyrelevant content, apps and services. Google-Cisco alliance proposes to address these challenges by offering Access, Platforms and Products to the next billion users. MOVING FORWARD WITH ADVANCED ANALYTICS IN OIL & GAS The digitization of oil and gas pipelines, refineries, infrastructure, field and exploration sites shall bring all the related data on a single platform. This can detect and convey data such as movements, vibrations, leakages, corrosion, and others.

NAVEEN SIKKA Principal Industry Consultant - Oil & Gas, SAS India

BY SANJAY@ACCENTINFOMEDIA.COM

“If you see a pattern in your data, be it in structured format or unstructured format, these emerging technologies help you in performing the most optimized action within your operations. With AI and ML, the action is not learnt; it is predetermined!”

Companies today are vehemently talking about AI and ML technologies and IT companies, be it a start-up or super majors, are already providing specialized offerings around these technologies. However, the extent and complexity these new age technologies address vary from individual companies’ outlook. Over the years, the inherent expectations from the oil and gas business is to build an error free application which requires good amount of feature engineering considering multiple variable factors that affect the expected output. This requires large amount of interaction between

the business domain and technology domain. The resources involved from each domain should be well versed with the boundaries within which the solutions need to be developed and should focus on providing the relevant data required for doing deep learning. The variety and veracity of data considered for the error-free solutions need considerable time as well as resources. Since the oil and gas industry is deeply interconnected right from the exploration, drilling and production of oil and gas to transportation, refining and distribution of oil therefore data exchanges or data collection and management becomes the most import factor to forecast, predict and optimize the output variables that need business attention in times to come. The need of the hour is to build AI and ML applications solving real life business issues. The issues faced within oil and gas industry could range from compliance, emissions, supplydemand fluctuations, price volatility, material availability, energy efficiencies, production efficiencies, supply chain etc. A wrong decision can prove to be very costly, but a correct decision is highly valuable. Therefore, it is imperative that emerging technologies in predictive analytics, drones, sensors, cloud-based systems, AI, IoT, robotics, software, and hardware automation need to collaborate to improve operations by reducing costs, and increasing safety, efficiency, and speed of the processes. The digitization of oil and gas pipelines, refineries, infrastructure, field and exploration sites shall bring all the related data on a single platform. This can detect and convey data such as movements, vibrations, leakages, corrosion, and others. Using advanced data analytics tools shall help in converting field/

market data into actionable data within the oil and gas companies that can detect patterns and get insights into potential defects or failures. Most of the oil and gas companies either in Upstream, Midstream and Downstream domain have been in operation for quite many decades. As industry norms can have it and due to its inherent nature of operations, over the years these companies have invested heavily on system of records. With skilled manpower availability within the oil and gas industry, in the past complex decision making has been fairly achieved. However over a period, with the ageing manpower, the decision-making trend is shifting towards data backed decisions. Companies use analytical and artificial intelligence solutions to process the data which gives them the ability to make decisions much faster than humans do manually. Advanced data technologies such as AI and ML offer oil and gas companies a means to solve this. To cope with this need it becomes critical for oil and gas companies to invest in emerging technologies for reducing risks, increasing productivity and optimizing costs which are of prime concern - be it Upstream, Midstream or Downstream domain. Modelling and simulation enable the analyst to assess millions of possible scenarios to decide whether the E&P, Transportation, Refining, Distribution and Retail operation can be performed in an efficient and cost effective manner. If you see a pattern in your data, be it in structured format or unstructured format, these emerging technologies help you in performing the most optimized action within your operations. With AI and ML, the action is not learnt; it is predetermined!

EXPERIENCE LED TRANSFORMATION WITH DIGITAL EXPERIENCE PLATFORM

BY SANJAY@ACCENTINFOMEDIA.COM

The increasing significance of a comprehensive Digital Experience Platform (DXP) cannot be sidelined today. It is crucial for the companies undergoing digital transformation to pay heed to this particular aspect of the said process. Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is an emerging category of enterprise software seeking to meet the needs of companies undergoing digital transformation, with the ultimate goal of providing better customer experiences. DXPs can be a single product, but are often a suite of products that work together. DXPs provide an architecture for companies to digitize business operations, deliver connected customer experiences, and gather actionable customer insight. Gartner defines the DXP as “an integrated set of core technologies that support the composition, management, delivery and optimisation of contextualised digital experiences. DXPs entail a high degree of emphasis on interoperability and cross-channel continuity across the entire customer journey.” A confluence of factors has led many companies to start radically reengineering their business practices to be extremely experience oriented: • Digital channels (web, mobile, and social media) have become the dominant ways customers interact with companies. • Customers expect great experiences like Google, Apple, and Facebook. • Social media in particular provides unstructured ways for customers to engage with and influence public sentiment for companies. • Mobile devices provide location and immediacy, giving companies more ways to keep in touch with customers. • Data insight is making it possible to target an audience segment of one person with a highly personalized experience. 32 ENTERPRISE IT WORLD    AUGUST 2019

• Digital technology makes it possible for startups to disrupt traditional industries: For example WealthFront for wealth management, LendingClub for financial products, and the oft-cited Uber and Airbnb in transportation and lodging—and all deliver a much better customer experience. However, in this journey of experience led transformation, most companies are faced with hurdles like: • Existing organizational systems are incapable of scaling on demand. • Existing applications are tightly coupled restricting ability to enhance their capabilities quickly • Data normalization across multiple sources is a huge challenge in delivering seamless customer experience. • Organizations have low visibility of their customer behaviours across touchpoints. • Real-time insights and mashup of data & behaviours across channels are necessary to deliver personalized experiences. • There is lack of automation and outdated processes • There is very low visibility of content across the organisation • Inability to understand customers preferences and interests To address these challenges, companies typically rely on various digital products: portals for content aggregation and personalisation, CMS for content management, search for information discovery, analytics for tracking, campaign

management for targeted campaigns, and so on. Digital experience platforms (DXP) combine all these core digital technologies into a single unified platform, that can be the foundation for building omni-channel experience rich applications. A DXP provides a platform to develop and manage personalised user experiences across all channels, devices, and touchpoints throughout the user journey. It provides an integrated and unified view to all its users across various applications and enables a seamless flow of business processes for its users. It enables developers to use modern web technologies to develop rich, interactive, and responsive web experiences. To access the complete article log on to: www.enterpriseitworld.com

FOR CIOS, FREEDOM MEANS TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN FREEDOM

BY SANJAY@ACCENTINFOMEDIA.COM

A special write up for the 73rd Independence Day of India, written at the cusp of dawn..

As decision makers of our companies, every time we check our mobile phones, we check if our servers are working or not, our core application is working or not. This is the date we fixed for some activity in our company for technology upgradation, application update, test run, trial, etc. I personally feel that this is the day we ought to upgrade our technology. With competition coming from completely unrelated sectors, we as leaders are under immense pressure to not only stay ahead of the competition but also to open up new revenue streams and create some bench marks for cost saving. Almost all enterprises are undertaking Digital Transformation, especially in Real Estate, Banking, Insurance, Pharma, etc. Overall, it makes the job of IT leaders tough as they have to be constantly prepared for new technology initiatives, upgrades for cyber security, etc. Real Freedom for a technology leader is to enable robust and efficient solutions for clients and industry to manage cyber risk appropriately. Cyber Security creates lots of Havoc for CIO’s globally, In the world of Information Security, the independence of building holistic solutions is one of the key aspects which gives leaders the liberty to perform at their optimum efficiency and encourages them to keep the doors open to exploring new ideas. CIOs want technology upgrades easily, without any downtime and easy to revert if anything goes wrong with the new

updates. From the business owners’ point of view, they want a seamless transformation of People, Process and Technology. In real world companies want seamless transformation like mobile phone, mobile apps, no training required, no IT person help is required. Here in this world we still want an IT person to connect our Video Conferencing. A seamless transformation of different technology to talk to each one is the need of the hour, this is called real Freedom. CIOs today need the Freedom to do away with the day-to-day mundane tasks which take lots of energy and time on the part of the top management for simple connectivity of VC, etc. CIOs of 2020 want some automation called RPA, AI, ML, etc. to smooth the complete process on technology, where they can update and upgrade the servers from home. I appreciate some technology on Hyper Converged Infrastructure, where we can upgrade our VM’s from anywhere. Actual Freedom for CIOs is to be able to save some cost on technology implementation, CIO, CFO relationship. CFO’s believe in technology and some investment in technology. A Government initiative for storage of data in India is also a good shift towards CIOs acquiring some freedom for storage and controls of data in Indian sub-continent. Government can support organizations by defining appropriate policies

and frameworks. A collaboration of Reliance JIO with Microsoft and creation of new data center by Hiranandani Group, called Yotta, is easing the pricing and policy for storage etc in India. The CIOs’ Digital Revolution and 24/7 work are deeply affecting the way we live, consume, work and interact with one another. Not only do companies have to revamp their operating models and adapt to a changing market environment; CIOs must also upgrade their arsenals and come up with new strategies, tactics and tools that help them build a purposeful digital enterprise, and this is what will give them True Freedom.
