DC fast charging stations allows for a much higher power transfer, considerably reducing charging time. To put it in perspective, DC fast chargers can refill up to 80% of a battery's capacity in just 20 to 30 minutes. This is achieved by changing the AC power from the grid into DC power before it reaches the vehicle. DC fast charging stations are very much energy-efficient compared to other charging stations. They can charge an EV battery from 0-80% in just a few minutes, which means less time spent charging and more time driving.

A power converter is an electrical circuit that alters the electric energy from one structure into the desired structure. These are components needed for converting the AC power from the grid into something that can be used for the storage process, and vice versa. This can be, for example, mechanical power for pumping of compressing gases or DC power for charging batteries.
