Crisp summer whites

Casalfarneto

Meet Paolo Togni, owner of the Casalfarneto winery in Marche, and winemaker Danilo Solustri. We asked Danilo about his outlook on the 2024 vintage and we have the scoop!

“The plant began its vegetative activity about 20 days early, (early April instead of late April) due to the high temperatures and frequent rains at the beginning of April that favored a fast vegetative development At the end of April there was a slowdown in the phenological phase.

We are now in the “peppercorn grape” phase, so we could say that the early vegetative growth at the start of the season has been reduced due to the cold weather at the end of April to about 8/10 days early.

At a phytosanitary level, until now the control of fungal diseases (particularly downy mildew) has been optimal and the plants are all healthy.

The grape load is normal, there is a good number of bunches but they are undersized compared to normal, probably, but it is still difficult to estimate, the production will not be abundant.”

Kaltern Pinot Grigio

In Kaltern, village life revolves around wine. Wine is the mission in life for many people there, one that they pursue with great passion be it in the vineyard, in the cellar, in restaurants and bars, or in retail.

What makes this village on the shores of Alto Adige's largest natural lake, and its wine, so unique is the community behind it the spirit, the euphoria, and the shared aspiration to draw the attention of the whole world to the wine, the village and to the natural beauty of Kaltern

“Kaltern white wines have a special place in my heart! The 'Soll' is the perfect summer wine - it's super smooth, a beautiful light yellow color, and has notes of pear and melon ”

Cantina Gaffino

Le Perle della Campagna Primitivo

Le Perle wines represent the finest flavors – the “pearls” – of each of the important wine regions of Italy. And because Le Perle works closely with family-owned wineries around the country, every bottle encompasses generations of winemaking experience and quality

The Primitivo is deep ruby red with violet reflections. Intense fruity bouquet with notes of plum and cherry, hints of Mediterranean herbs, slightly spicy. A full-bodied wine, soft and balanced, easy to drink.

“Great body and flavor. Its all about the fruit. 100% primitivo (Zinfandel) with no Oak!”

Meet Gabriele Gaffino, owner of the Cantina Gaffino winery just outside Rome. We asked Gabriele to share his insights on the upcoming 2024 harvest and he shared!

“The 2024 harvest, for us at GAFFINO Vigneti e Cantina, looks promising. The use of a modern weather station for precision agriculture including the use of sensors for phytosanitary protection, water saving and soil moisture control helped us to carefully monitor the situation in the vineyards and intervene on the spot right and only in cases of true necessity

Weather conditions have, until now, been characterized by temperatures over the average level and irregular rainfalls. We have repeatedly worked in the vineyards to control the foliage and control, only when absolutely necessary, water stress through targeted irrigation. The goal is to keep the vine in good balance and work for an optimal balance between sugars and acidity of future grapes.

At this point we are very optimistic and look forward to a good harvest, ready to reap the fruits of our meticulous and passionate work.”
