ENNOSEN YEN

Hello, My name is Ennosen

I am a recent grad from George Washington, with a BFA in interior architecture.

My family is originally from South Sudan but have lived in the states since I was little. I enjoy learning about gastronomy so during my free time, you can find me attempting to “chef it up” in the kitchen. I also love doing spontaneous projects such as creating art pieces to hang up at home or sewing new garments out of old clothing pieces. Currently, I am Interning at DCAMM as a remote planning & accessibility intern, researching and gathering information for construction projects and informational presentations. I hope to one day travel around the world and study architectural practices and cultural concepts, to one day bring and create in Africa and my homeland South Sudan.

A- HOUSE

A-House is an African Hub that celebrates the cultures, food, and people of the East region of Africa such as South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. There is an open kitchen where guests can see how some dishes are made right in front of them, as well as special events with visiting chefs and cooking classes. For a more informal venue, A-House will also have a Tea Lounge for casual stops at the restaurants, or an after-meal, teatime. A-House will also have a shop where African products can be purchased from the region of East Africa in partnership with the Restaurant, to promote economic welfare as well as positive tourism in East Africa. A-House’s mission is to be an invitation into East African culture where anyone can dine and explore African Gastronomy and enjoy a little bit of East Africa.

CONCEPT

ROMAN MYTHOLOGY

In Roman mythology. Death is not final. After someone died, they were taken on the Styx, the river in the underworld. The river would take you then to get judged and placed, based on what kind of human being you were on earth. If you were extraordinary , you were taken to the Fields of Elysium or the Plain of Asphodel if you were ordinary, after judgment. If you were in need of punishment you were taken to Tartarus. But, on special occasions if you were greatly favored by the gods you were elevated into one.

BERTEL THORVALDSEN’S CAVE OF LIGHT

Thorvaldsen has contributed so much to Danish arts, that he would be seen as someone to have been elevated to a God. And every God or Goddess has a temple. So welcome to Thorvaldsen’s temple, a cave where his soul lies. A place where you are taken into a world of light.
