How to use your Wizardry Notebook Nobody is better at getting people to read than J.K. Rowling. Since the publication of the first Harry Potter book in 1997, over 450 million copies have been sold, and an estimated 75% of children between 5 and 17 went on to read other books because of Harry Potter. This special notebook has been created expressly for Harry Potter fans that are learning English. In further exploring the vast magical world of Harry Potter, English language learners can also improve their reading comprehension, enhance their writing skills, and increase their active and passive vocabulary. How to proceed: First and foremost, you must create an account on Pottermore.com. The site is free and loaded with additional information and insight into the people, places, and events of the wizarding world. Also, you’ll find many of the stories and supplemental information is written by J.K. Rowling herself!!! Second, immediately after you’ve created your account on Pottermore, you’ll find you’ll need to be sorted into a house. Simply follow the instructions and you’ll soon know your Hogwarts house, your patronus, your Ilvermorny house and you’ll even be given your wand from Ollivander’s. Make note of your results on the first page of this notebook. Using your Pottermore Wizardry Notebook Called the “digital heart of the Wizarding World”, J.K. Rowling provides a wealth of information for fans of Harry Potter on Pottermore.com. For this notebook, the most important headings are: Writing by J.K. Rowling, Explore the Story and News.

Accordingly, your Wizardry Notebook is divided into these 3 sections: 1) Explore the Story – detailed supplemental information of the following collections; a. Creatures, b. Characters, c. Locations, d. Magical Objects, and e. Spells and Charms 2) Writing by J.K. Rowling – collections of short insightful stories grouped into various collections, and 3) News – current events and articles concerning the Wizarding World. Third, a) choose the subject on Pottermore that you want to study and b) find the corresponding page in the notebook and c) follow the instructions on the page. You have 10 pages for Explore the Story, and 5 pages each for Writing by J.K. Rowling and News. Fourth, once you have completed a page in your notebook, submit it to your professor/proofreader for review and further instructions. And finally, complete the instructions provided by your professor/proofreader and attach your work in your Pottermore Wizardry Notebook.
