Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, will host the Pleasant View Community Chorus of Manheim and the choir of Calvary Church in a presentation on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m. in the auditorium. The choirs will present a remake of the Old-Fashioned Revival Hour radio broadcast. The audience is invited to sing along with the choir on familiar songs from a bygone era. Arts And Craft Show Set For Sept. 1 And 2 By Chelsea Peifer

Weavers, spinners, painters, glass blowers, woodworkers, photographers, clothing designers, sculptors, potters, quilters, and makers of jewelry, candles, brooms, baskets, cards, iron, and leather crafts are just some of the artisans and craftspersons who will share their talents at the 31st annual Heart of Lancaster Arts and Craft Show. This year’s event is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and 2, at Root’s Country Market, 705 Graystone Road, Manheim. Lifetree Cafe is hosted at The General Sutter Inn, 14 E. Main St., Lititz, every Monday at 7 p.m. Lifetree is a weekly program that involves friendly conversations about various topics. The Aug. 27 program, “Unburdened: Letting Go of Guilt,” features a screening of the short film “Unburden,” which tells the story of a mother who accidentally injures her infant daughter and the resulting guilt. All are invited to the free community event. Paws In The Park Scheduled In Lititz By Ann Mead Ash

Kathy Styer and Beth Buchter, founders of Leo’s Helping Paws, set a specific goal when they created the organization more than four years ago to support dog rescue groups by providing grants. “We knew in order to save dogs, you needed funding (because) vet bills are a major part of a rescue,” said Styer. “We knew we needed to fundraise, so we founded a team.” “We wanted to help all rescues,” Buchter added, noting that rescue organizations that are eligible for grants from Leo’s must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits with no paid staff. “We started with (rescues located in) Pennsylvania, but we have added bordering states including New York, New Jersey, Delaware, See Paws In The Park pg 7

Leo, the rescued corgi that is the namesake of Leo’s Helping Paws, is looking forward to attending Paws in the Park, a dog-centered fundraiser for the organization that will be held in Lititz Springs Park on Sept. 29. The event will feature games, food, and vendors that create items or provide services for dogs.

will offer a field trip on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 7 a.m. to Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. The event, which is free and open to the public, will provide an opportunity to see migrating waterfowl, warblers, flycatchers, thrushes, and other birds.
