Flag Day Observed At Lancashire By Ann Mead Ash
On Flag Day, residents of Lancashire Terrace Retirement Village, 6 Terrace Drive, Lancaster, gathered at the Village Center under the direction of Air Force veteran Richard Little, chaplain of American Legion Post 56, Lititz, to celebrate and honor Old Glory. At 11:15 a.m., Little opened the service with a word of prayer, saying, in part, “We thank you (Lord) for the flag and all it represents … We pray that our flag may bind together the many elements of our dear country and foster the rights of 100 percent Americanism. Please grant that this union of sovereign states remain forever indivisible.” Little’s prayer was followed by the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the gathering under the direction of pastor Grace Shirk. A Glimpse Inside Agriculture At Family Farm Days
“That was good ice cream and chocolate milk,” Danelle Fernandez commented as she wiped the drips off her fingers. The miniature ice cream cones and samples of chocolate milk have long been a staple of Family Farm Days at Oregon Dairy, 2900 Oregon Pike, Lititz.
Fernandez, who lives in Pasadena, Md., but grew up in Lancaster, arranged for her sisters and their father to meet her at Oregon Dairy when Family Farm Days opened on June 11. “I remember coming as a kid, and I wanted to share the fun and the chocolate milk with my daughter,” she explained.
