PROPERTY TAX PAYMENT

The Solanco School District reminds Solanco property owners that their district real estate tax payments are due by Wednesday, Oct. 31. A 10percent penalty will be assessed on the portion of a taxpayer’s real estate tax bill that is not paid by Oct. 31. Solanco residents who have already elected to use the district’s installment plan for paying property taxes must make their second payment by Oct. 31. Taxpayers may not elect the installment payment option after Oct. 31. For details about mailing payments to the school district, visit www.solanco.org or call the administration office at 717-786-8401. Envelopes must be postmarked by Oct. 31. Solanco High School Plans Second Service Day One year ago, Solanco High School hosted its first all-day service event, which was received well by students and the public. A majority of the

student body signed up to serve at one of many local and regional nonprofit organizations, and this year is shaping up to be the same.

“Students were excited to make the Day of Service an annual event because of the rewarding experience and memories last fall,” said Solanco staff member

Solanco High School students and staff members performed a variety of work during the first Day of Service last year. This year’s event has been set for Nov. 8. As part of the day, students will offer free technology assistance at two Quarryville locations, and members of the public are invited to bring their devices and questions.

SECA Auction Will Feature New Time, Content Celebrating Harvest Season “We are holding a special fall festival at the end of October to celebrate the harvest season,” said Quarryville Library youth services coordinator Randi Kennedy. “We will have autumn crafts the family can make together including leaf suncatchers, paper-strip

Lancaster County Joining Forces, through the partnership of Compass Mark and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, will offer a event addressing the opioid epidemic in Lancaster County. The event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville. Deb McCoy of Compass Mark will present “How to Talk to Children About Drugs.” Admission is free. To register, visit www.LancasterJoining Forces.org.
