Taking Audiences Off To See The Wizard Penn Manor Productions will present the musical “The Wizard of Oz” on Fridays, Feb. 28 and March 6, and Saturdays, Feb. 29 and March 7, in the auditorium of Penn Manor High School, 100 E. Cottage Ave., Millersville. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. all four days, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Feb. 29. Separate prices have been set for adults and for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at https://pennmanor.seatyourself.biz, or an order form may be downloaded from www.pennmanor.net/wp-content/ uploads/2020/02/OZ-Flier-Emerald -City-event.pdf and mailed to the school. “The Wizard of Oz” is based on the beloved movie of the same name and tells the story of young Dorothy Gale, who is whisked away by a tornado to the magical land of Oz. There, she teams up with Scarecrow, Tin Man, and
Cowardly Lion to find the mighty Wizard of Oz, whom she believes can send her home. Along the way, the four friends must avoid the Wicked Witch of the West, who is trying to steal the magic slippers that once belonged to her evil sister but are now on Dorothy’s feet. Dorothy eventually learns just how magical friendship can be and how wonderful it can feel to go home again. The show features Emily Witmer as Dorothy, True Herbert as Tin Man, Alex Detter as Scarecrow, and Rowan Brooks as Cowardly Lion. Also included are more than 100 students in the cast, the orchestra pit, and the crews overseeing the set, stage, lights, sound, costumes, makeup, props, and marketing. Registration has opened for the 27th annual LancasterLebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13) education conference scheduled for Tuesday, June 23. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, 1600 Book Road, Lancaster. Registration will open at 7:45 a.m., and attendees may partake of a continental breakfast while they visit the door prize zone and sponsor tables. “Agents of Change ... Mission POSSIBLE” is this year’s conference theme. “It is the hope that this conference will inspire anyone in the educational community to accept the mission of educating all learners,” said IU13 early childhood and special education services program director Kathy Rose.

It might seem odd to talk about summer plans during winter, but children’s ministry music director Katie Wieand wants parents to take into account a new opportunity for youngsters at Grace Community Church of Willow Street (GCCWS), 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street. The church will offer a summer musical theater camp on Monday through Friday, June 15 to 19, for children of all abilities who will enter first through eighth grades in the fall. The camp will meet from 9 a.m. to noon every day, with a 6:30 p.m. performance on June 19.
