Logan Hall, who has been involved in 4-H since he was in elementary school, was recently named an extension educator by the Chester County 4-H Youth Development Program. Hall, who started his new job on July 9, grew up in Cumberland County, located near Harrisburg. “4-H has been a part of my life since age 9 or 10,” said Hall. “I started in Cumberland County 4-H Goat Club and then joined the Cumberland Farm Stock Club. I grew up in town, but my aunt had eight acres outside of Carlisle, which is where my agriculture and livestock experience comes from.” During his youth, Hall showed market goats, breeding goats, market hogs, breeding sheep, market sheep and poultry, among other livestock. “We also raised turkeys,” he noted. Hall continued in 4-H throughout his

career at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown. “In the Pennsylvania 4-H youth program, you can (participate) from age 8 to 18. I continued into my freshman year of college,” he recalled. “Then, once I aged out, I started a collegiate chapter. It is very different from a traditional 4-H Club because we don’t carry a project; it was more service-based.” Prior to joining the Chester County staff, Hall was a 4-H youth development educator in the Penn State Extension of Cumberland County office and he served as the deputy communications director, as well as acting communications director, during his tenure at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. In his new role, Hall joins extension educator Toni Stuetz to provide educational programs and activities for youths throughout Chester County. “The opportunity to work with 4-H in Chester County aligns with my animal

LaRose, who recently completed active duty as an officer in the United States Army, has formed the Race for RADAR team, a group of men and women who hope to raise money to allow The RADAR Project to market an app that will allow victims to anonymously report crimes by dropping color-coded pins on a virtual map, marking the locations where the incidents occurred. Currently, incidents of abuse can be reported at www.theradarproject.org. See The RADAR Project pg 5

Just like Toni, I will put together camps for the public to come to and for 4-H members.” Hall recently toured the Romano 4-H Center in Honey Brook for the first time. The 4-H Center includes an outdoor riding ring with a full course of jumps, as well as a pole building. The main building has a large conference area, with restrooms and showers. “It was my first opportunity to see the property,” he said. “It illustrates the dedication people have to the 4-H program in Chester County.” The public is invited to meet Hall and other staff members from the extension office in Chester County during an open house at the Chester County 4-H Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. See 4-H Educator pg 5
