After a successful debut last year that exceeded expectations, the second annual Di-Atglen Alley Wizard Faire is returning bigger and better. The popular event, held as a fundraiser by the Atglen Public Library (APL), will take place on Saturday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 121 W. Main St., Atglen. This year, the “Wizard Academy” area will grow and take over more space. There will be more vendors this year, along with new attractions. The event is designed to be fun for people of all ages. Activities will include bounce houses and water tunnels, crafts such as wand-making, face painting and other creative activities. There will also be fun “classes” in potions, herbology, care of magical creatures and divinations. Visitors will also be able to enjoy
various performances, including a magic show with Professor Snark and a program with live owls. There will be Wizard Quizzo; questions will be centered around the “Harry Potter” book series. “(The performances are) free to the public. We don’t want anybody to stay home because of the cost. We want kids to come and have a blast,” said Erin Metzler, planning committee chair and library board member. New this year for youngsters will be the Triple Tricks Tournament where children who complete a maze, a cornhole event and a scavenger hunt will receive a prize. Also new is a costume contest with prizes in three ages groups: 12 and under, 13 to 17 and adult. Shoppers can visit the Di-Atglen Alley Shoppes, and there will be a sale of food and beverages, including Rita’s Italian Ice and Walk-o Taco. “We have a ton of stuff for (attendees) to do free.
