After a four-year absence, West Fallowfield Christian School (WFCS) is bringing back its popular potpie dinner in a new format. The dinner, set for Friday, March 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the school, will now be served restaurant-style, with additional servings brought upon request. The meal will include homemade chicken potpie, pepper cabbage, applesauce, a fruit cup, a roll and butter, a choice of beverage and chocolate or vanilla cake for dessert. The meal will be served by teachers, students and volunteers. “It’s all-youcan-eat. Our waiters and waitresses will bring you a refill of everything you want,” said Heather Olseski, who is organizing the event along with Heather Herr and other volunteers.
“We wanted to try to get away from serving family-style. Everything will come individually portioned, and you can ask for more.” The previous version of the potpie dinner was a popular fall event held in conjunction with the school’s annual benefit auction. Over the years, the two events required so many volunteer hours in one weekend that the potpie meal was discontinued. “Doing potpie and auction on the same weekend required an army of people,” WFCS principal Robbie Martin said, explaining the reason for eliminating the potpie dinner. “The hope had always been that we would reignite it.” As time went on, people realized how much they missed the potpie dinner experience, particularly the connection it provided between the school and the community. According to Tim Rogers, lead pastor of Grace Point Church in Paradise, the idea of meeting on a front porch should evoke thoughts of easy conversation. “When we think of a front porch, we

think of people talking casually and enjoying company together,” said Rogers. “You’re meeting each other, beginning conversation, and having some fun. That’s what people do on the front porch. They talk, engage, and learn about each other.” That atmosphere is what Grace Point strives to create with Front Porch, an effort aimed at providing a relational and relaxed environment for area residents to discuss matters of faith. Front Porch will meet on Wednesdays through See Front Porch pg 2
