The Lancaster Modern Quilt Guild (LMQG) will host internationally known quilter Sherri Lynn Wood on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7. Wood will present two workshops and a lecture at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville. Wood has been practicing the art of improvising quilts, which is creating quilts without a specific pattern, for 30 years and is considered a master at her craft. Her best-selling publication “The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters: A Guide to Creating, Quilting and Living Courageously” provides information about flexible patterns and creativity along with practical instruction in stitching techniques and color theory. Internationally known quilter Sherri Lynn Wood, who creates nontraditional quilts with no set pattern, will host two workshops and a lecture on March 6 and 7 at Ridgeview Mennonite Church in Gordonville. The programs are being presented by the Lancaster Modern Quilt Guild.

Modern Quilt Guild To Host Guest Speaker
The Parkesburg Lions Club presented Thaddeus “Bud” Wilde (left) with its highest honor, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, on Feb. 13. Making the presentation was Lions district governor Marilyn Wagner.
Parkesburg Lions Club honored longtime member Thaddeus “Bud” Wilde at its Feb. 13 meeting. He was given the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the highest honor from Lions Clubs International, which is given for extraordinary community service. The presentation was made by district governor Marilyn Wagner. “It’s just a great organization,” Wilde said when accepting the award. “They always help people, and that’s what I love, helping people. The whole organization, Lions Clubs all over the world, it’s amazing what they do.” Wilde joined the Parkesburg Lions Club on May 1, 1977. He explained that See Wilde pg 6

The Oxford United Methodist Church (OUMC) is looking for tasters, bakers and contestants for its seventh annual Chocolate Festival on Saturday, March 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. Those who would like to compete in the Chocolate Festival contest should bring their entries to the church fellowship hall between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on the morning of the event for judging.
