Program Provides Computers For Refugees
Wolves At The Library Author To Discuss Book About Pennsylvania Sanctuary
By Dayna M. Reidenouer
“I really enjoy helping people with their English and helping them meet their personal and professional goals,” said Danny Gingrich, who works as an English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor at Alpha and Omega Community Center (AOCC), 708 Wabank Road, Lancaster. In recent years, Gingrich’s desire to help others has expanded from English tutoring to matching individuals with computers. Gingrich noted that he uses a lot of websites that offer free grammar lessons in his tutoring sessions, and he thought it would be helpful for his students to practice on their own at home. However, with most of his students being refugees with limited incomes, buying computers was not an option for them.

Chuck Rineer, wildlife photographer and author, easily recalls the first time he was introduced to wolves up close and personal by his friend Bill Darlington, founder of the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania, 465 Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz. In the late 1970s, Rineer and his kindergarten-age son were invited to the Darlington home. “We went in the house, and he told us to sit on the couch in the living room and to stay there,” said Rineer. “He opened a door and these little fluff balls came out. They were the first two (wolf) pups they had.” See Wolves pg 2
Chuck Rineer, wildlife photographer and author of the book “Wolf Sanctuary: The Wolves of Speedwell Forge,” will give a multimedia presentation on the book and his experiences at the sanctuary at the Manheim Township Public Library on March 10 at 6 p.m.

A Desire To Help Hurting Children New Director Hopes To Speak At Churches By Ann Mead Ash
In 2018, Lititz resident Jennifer Martin began sharing her testimony in local churches. At New Life Fellowship in Ephrata, her testimony was recorded, and her parents, Jay and Rosene Hurst, showed the tape to their friends Drew and Cindy Metcalf, founders of We Help Children, a ministry with workers in several locations, including the Guatemala and the U.S. The organization works with children in orphanages and trains workers who serve in orphanages, among other efforts on behalf of traumatized children. See We Help Children pg 3
Jennifer Martin (left), U.S. director for We Help Children, has worked with children in Guatemala and Haiti. In her new role with We Help Children, she will build relationships with area churches by giving her testimony and speaking about the organization.
