that you get to make the character your own,” continued Luke. “There’s who you’re supposed to be on paper and who you get to make them be.” Twins Nickea Metzler and Tenaya Metzler will portray Mrs. Peacock in the Red Herring and Smoking Gun casts, respectively. The MCHS seniors said that different family members will be at each of the show’s performances to watch as each sister puts her own spin on Mrs. Peacock. “She’s very batty, but she’s a politician’s wife and has trained herself to be very composed,”
said Tenaya. “It’s a lot of fun playing her bouts of hysteria,” Nickea noted. “We have a lot of fun with it and interacting with the other characters.” Nickea and Tenaya are excited about the costumes and set for the show, crediting MCHS drama director Amber Friel, assistant director Megan Adams, and creative director Kami Deppen with going above and beyond to make everything topnotch. The set will be styled to complement the characters, including a peacock room and a
mustard-colored room. Colonel Mustard will be portrayed by MCHS senior TJ Faulkner in the Red Herring cast and MCHS freshman Ben Ginder in the Smoking Gun cast. “I love playing Colonel Mustard,” commented TJ. In fact, whenever he plays the game of Clue, he always opts for Colonel Mustard. “He’s a lot of the comic relief, and he’s hysterical because of his stupidity,” TJ said. “It’s a funny play, and it will keep everyone’s attention even if they aren’t fans of the game or movie. Everyone’s doing a great job with their character.”
HANUKKAH This Jewish Man Antiochus Epiphanies was a descendant of a general in the army of Alexander the Great. He was the ruler of Syria in 164 BC. He tried to conquer Egypt, but Pharaoh sent him packing his bags for home. He was furious and tried to take his wrath out on Israel. He not only ordered a pig to be sacrificed on the altar in the Temple, but he also ordered local Levites to sacrifice pigs in their own town. In the town of Modin a Levite named Matthias refused to sacrifice a pig. He and his sons killed the Syrian captain and his soldiers. This started Israel’s successful three year rebellion against Syria. Israel was successful in their rebellion and the profaned Altar in the Temple was taken down and a new one was erected. There was only enough consecrated oil in the Temple to burn for one day. The Lord made that small amount of oil last for eight days, until the new consecrated oil was ready. It was decided that the victory and the miracle of the oil would be celebrated every year, as a testimony to the saving grace of our eternal Master and King. Jewish families light their Candelabra with the addition of one more candle each day until eight candles are lit. The candles are always lit with one special candle called the servant candle (Shamash). One hundred and sixty four years later, the most famous Jewish man that ever lived, stood in the Temple courts at the Feast of Dedication called Hanukkah. The people asked Him to tell them plainly, if He was the Messiah. He said “He and His Father are One” (John 10:30). He was the Prophet that Moses spoke about in Deutueronomy. 18:15ff. He said that “He is the light of the world” (John 8:12). “He brought light into the world but men loved darkness” (John 3:19). “He made the world but the world knows Him not” (John 1:10). “He laid his life down freely, no one could take it from Him” (John 10:18). His life was sacrificed for the benefit of all who would come to Him as Savior and Messiah. This was done according to “the set purpose and foreknowledge of His Heavenly Father” (Acts 2:23). He had to die, for The Scripture says “It is the blood that makes atonement for the soul” (Lev. 17:11). Messiah wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). He says to all who will listen “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28). “Arise, shine for thy light is come (Isaiah 60:1)” “Messiah is the light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel”. (Luke 2:32). Messiah said, “I am the root and the offspring of David. The bright and morning star” (Revelation 22:16). Yeshua (Jesus the Messiah) is the only one who can save you from eternal damnation. Come unto Him so that you may have eternal life with Him and His Father, in their everlasting Kingdom. It does not matter whether you are Jewish or Gentile. He says to you PERSONALLY “Come to me and I will give you Eternal life with me”. “This is an iconic Manheim house, and depending on your age you’ll remember it as something different,” remarked Donna. “If you’re my age, it’s the Hollinger house. If you’re younger than me, it’s the Graybill house, and there were a few other owners in between there, too.” Reid and Inda Graybill, who founded Graybill’s Tool and Die Inc. in Manheim, were the property’s most recent residents prior to when Donna and her husband, Ken, purchased it in 2017. Ken passed away in April. Though apprehensive about being part of the holiday home tour, Donna agreed to feature her home when a friend suggested she do so in honor of Ken and his love for the holiday season. Her home’s sunroom will showcase a collection of memories Disney ornaments on the Christmas tree and other things Ken had collected with his children
