Faith United Methodist Church, 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, will host a homemade chicken corn soup sale on Saturday, Nov. 3. Preorders may be picked up between 9 and 11 a.m. Walkin orders will be available from 10 a.m. until sold out. Freshly made soup can be bought by the pint or quart, and containers will be available. The featured speaker will be Brett Snyder, who will discuss “Eyes Aloft: Lancaster County and the Aircraft Warning Service.” During World War II, local civilians acted as plane spotters, observing the skies from designated posts so they could warn residents of unfriendly aircraft. All EPHS meetings are free and open to the public. Also, the Daniel Wolf House, 1905 State St., will be open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. Chiques United Methodist Church (UMC) and Chiques Women in Mission will present the church’s 46th annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 1215 E. Main St., Mount Joy. Food will be available, including apple dumplings, pies, cakes, cookies, barbecue, assorted soups, hot dogs, beverages, and desserts. The church bazaar will feature a white elephant sale and attic treasures. Homemade items such as candy, jewelry, and crafts will also be for sale. Proceeds will benefit local missions and church projects.

Book Sale To Benefit Manheim Community Library By Chelsea Peifer

On Thursday, Nov. 8, through Saturday, Nov. 10, the Friends of the Manheim Community Library will host a used book sale in the basement of the Manheim Community Library building, 15 E. High St., Manheim. Elevator access and carts will be available. The hours for the sale will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 8; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9; and 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 10. On Nov. 10, attendees will have the option of filling a bag with items for a set fee. Thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, and videos will be available for purchase, with an assortment of titles that are suitable for adults, students, and children. The selection will include books for readers of all ages, as well as many works by bestselling

authors. A new addition for this sale will be an assortment of puzzles for adults and children. All of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the library. Members of the Friends of the Manheim Community Library are invited to a preview night on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. Visitors may become members of the Friends group at the door for a set membership rate in order to gain entry to the preview night. Individuals may also join the Friends group at any time throughout the year. The cost of a yearly Friends membership helps to support the Manheim Community Library. The Friends’ support provides for a portion of the library’s annual budget, enabling the library to afford the resources needed to provide the Preschool Time and Toddler Time programs, among other offerings. New Life Welcomes Lead Pastor Teen Central Banquet Set For Nov. 13 By Ann Mead Ash

Ron Bradley, who officially became the lead pastor at New Life Assembly of God, has been visiting Lancaster for more than 30 years, but he never realized that he and his family, which includes his wife, Jemma, and son, Ian, would live in the county. “Lancaster is so peaceful. We would come here just to get away,” shared Bradley, adding that his family especially enjoyed visiting a local Christian theater on their visits. Bradley has been to Lancaster so many times that when a fellow pastor from the area contacted him in early May about an opening at New Life, he recalled the church with the large blue dove on the side he had seen when traveling on Route 30. “He told me

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the community is invited to attend the Teen Central fall banquet at Manheim Brethren in Christ Church, 54 N. Penryn Road, Manheim. Admission is free; however, reservations are requested. To reserve a space, interested individuals may call Veronica Myer at 717-664-2990 by Monday, Nov. 5. Doors will open for the banquet at 6 p.m., and folks will have the opportunity to bid on items in a silent auction. Themed baskets, handmade items, overnight getaways, tickets to a local theater, and other experiences will be up for bids. Winners of the silent auction will be announced at the end of the night. A buffet-style meal prepared by a local catering company will be served at 6:30 p.m. On the menu will be hamloaf, grilled chicken, gourmet potatoes, green beans, ice cream, and assorted desserts. Justin Burns present an overview of the happenings at the youth center over the past year, as well as the vision for its future. Burns originally got involved at Teen Central as a volunteer before transitioning into the role of executive director in August. In addition, Burns serves as youth pastor at New Life Church Manheim. He and his wife, Amber, have five children and live in Manheim. See Teen Central pg 12
