A Campaign For Lifecycles From Coast To Coast Couple To Bicycle Across Country By Chelsea Peifer
Bicycling across the United States has always been a dream of Erin Steinweg’s, and this summer that dream will come to fruition as she and her fiancé, Garrett Collins, make the trek across the country. The pair will fly to the West Coast in August to set off on a self-supported bicycle ride from Eugene, Ore., to Yorktown, Va. Steinweg and Collins will be on the road for approximately 60 days to cover a total of 4,200 miles - all while carrying their own tents, sleeping bags, and other supplies.
“We weren’t sure when we would get to do it, because there are three main things you need to do a trip like this: time, money, and health,” explained Collins. “But we both had time off and everything else just came into place, so we’re really excited to be going now.” Steinweg, 22, graduated from Manheim Central High School in 2015 and from Messiah College in May with a degree in biology. Steinweg is in the process of applying to physician assistant graduate programs. Collins, 24, graduated from Lebanon Valley College with his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in May and decided to delay his job search a bit so he and Steinweg could bike across the country. Beginning on Aug. 6, Erin Steinweg (left) and Garrett Collins plan to bicycle approximately 4,200 miles from the Pacific coast of Oregon to the Atlantic coast of Virginia in about 60 days. The couple will raise funds to support Lifecycles, a Lancaster-based organization that mentors youths through bicycling experiences.

Elizabethtown friends Anthony Cicero IV, 18, and Dakota Snyder, 17, have both been fishing since they could walk and like to spend as much time as they can on the Susquehanna River and at area lakes catching fish. All of that time and practice paid off when they put their skills to the test at The Bass Federation (TBF) Student Angler Federation’s (SAF) 10th annual High School Fishing World Finals in Florence, Ala., and won first place. Cicero and Snyder were among 389 high school teams from across the country competing at Pickwick Lake. The competition began on June 19, and See Fishing World Finals pg 3
