BUFFET BREAKFAST

The Baron Stiegel Lions Club of Clay and Elizabeth Townships will hold a buffet breakfast and sub sale on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brickerville Fire Hall, located on Hopeland Road at Route 322. The all-you-can-eat meal will feature a large selection of breakfast items. There is a set fee for the breakfast, and children’s meals will be half-price. Tickets can be purchased at the door. GBC, Manheim BIC To Host Night To Shine By Chelsea Peifer

LCBC - Manheim, 2392 Mount Joy Road, Manheim, will kick off a new five-week series, Set for Life. Dave Ramsey will join the gatherings during the weekend of Saturday, Jan. 5, through Monday, Jan. 7. LCBC will also offer multiple Financial Peace University (FPU) groups throughout the week beginning in mid-January. FPU is a nine-week course that teaches wise money management. The Lancaster County Bird Club will meet on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. After a short business meeting, Jeffrey Larkin, professor of wildlife ecology and conservation at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, will present a program on “Importance of Landscape-scale Forest Bird Conservation.” Larkin and his students have assisted state and federal agencies and other conservation groups with understanding the ecology and associated management implications for birds and other animals. There are many quotes exhorting people to be part of something bigger than themselves. Richmond Wandera, a native of Kampala, Uganda, has lived them. On Dec. 14, 2018, Wandera graduated from Lancaster Bible College (LBC) with a Doctor of Philosophy in leadership, with the goal of taking what he has learned back to his home country to spread knowledge among pastors there. “Uganda has 40 million people and 85,000 pastors, but 70 percent of (the pastors have) had no training,” said Wandera. “(Yet) they are forced to explain complex theology.” Wandera added that theological information is not easily available. will present Behind the Scenes for the Fulton Theatre on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at Fulton Scenic Studios, 1397 Arcadia Road, Site 2, Lancaster. Grace Baptist Church (GBC) of Lancaster and Manheim Brethren in Christ (BIC) Church are teaming up to present the Lancaster Collaboration of Night to Shine. Sponsored in part by the Tim Tebow Foundation, Night to Shine is centered on celebrating people with special needs through an unforgettable prom experience. The annual event is one of several ministries led by the foundation established by Tebow, a former professional quarterback and current professional baseball outfielder. GBC has hosted a Night to Shine for the past two years, and event coordinator Joell Ketcham said that GBC decided to try a new and larger location for 2019. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 8, in the gymnasium at Manheim BIC, 54 N. Penryn Road, Manheim.
