LCAA Offers Artistic Opportunities Autumn is an ideal time to capture the changing colors of nature with paper and paint. Individuals are invited to enroll in art classes that take advantage of the great outdoors at the Lancaster County Art Association (LCAA), 149 Precision Ave., Strasburg, or they may view LCAA members’ fall-inspired creations. Opening on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the LCAA’s Kauffman Gallery, the fall membership show will feature pastels, paintings, mixed media, photography and more. Additionally, a solo show by LCAA president Carol H. Dale will be featured in the neighboring Steinmetz Gallery. “Painting Joy and Peace” will include paintings of children splashing in a fountain, quiet walks by the water, and other landscapes done in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. “I hope my work will bring a smile,” Dale commented. The Steinmetz and Kauffman galleries are open on Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to

According to YWCA Lancaster training coordinator and abolitionist educator Adam Hosey, financial hardship will not be a barrier to participating in upcoming Racial Equity Institute (REI) sessions. “One of our guiding principles is that we will turn no one away for financial reasons as long as they are willing to put in the time to do the work,” Hosey explained. “This is why we have shifted from a defined cost to a suggested donation structure.”

Although this year has been tough, I’m so grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to serve in this capacity.” Jessica’s reign started out in the

usual way: She competed against other Lampeter-Strasburg High School students, each representing a different school club - Jessica represented the Garden Spot FFA chapter - on the opening night of the fair. For the next three days, Jessica stayed busy on the fairgrounds, interacting with visitors, awarding ribbons in the livestock shows, and delivering hamburger buns and ketchup bottles to winning bidders at the leftovers auction. She had time to help with the baby parade and to visit the fair restaurant. Then, in January, Jessica represented the West Lampeter Fair in the state fair queen competition,
