West Willow Fire Company will hold a block shoot on Saturday, March 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Pequea Valley Sportsmen’s Association, 195 Rawlinsville Road, Willow Street. GCC Youth Group Schedules Benefit Auction Grace Community Church (GCC) of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, will hold its annual benefit auction on Friday, March 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. From 5 to 7:30 p.m., a silent auction will be open, and dinner prepared by

Hess’s Barbecue Catering Inc., will be available for purchase. A live auction will begin at 6 p.m. Child care for youngsters age 5 and under will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. While no cost has been set for the child care, donations will be accepted.

Only cash will be accepted for the meal, with separate prices set for children ages 3 to 10 and for people age 11 and older. The menu will be “take what you want” and will include pork barbecue, pit beef, hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, green

Zion United Church of Christ (UCC) of New Providence, 900 Winter Hill Road, Strasburg, will host a free community meal on Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. The meal will feature hot chicken salad. Attendees are welcome to bring a dish to share. For more details, call Zion UCC at 717-786-2091.

Members of GCC Youth plan to attend Momentum Youth Conference in Indiana again this summer. A benefit auction to cover the cost of the trip, as well as a mission trip to Philadelphia, will be held at Grace Community Church (GCC) of Willow Street on March 27.

Youth and online pastor Addison Roberts said that more donations for the auction are expected to arrive in the weeks before the event. The GCC event has traditionally been held on a Friday night rather than on a Saturday morning like many other fundraising auctions. “I think it helps create this very fun atmosphere to our auction,” Roberts said. “It is a night out.” The proceeds from the March 27 activities will be used by GCC Youth to send students to Momentum Youth Conference in Indiana and on a mission trip to Philadelphia this summer. “Momentum is an opportunity that many of our students have described as life-changing,” Roberts remarked. Wagner Symposium To Focus On Container Gardens Home gardeners are invited to learn from horticulture experts and meet other people interested in growing plants for personal use at this year’s Shirley R. Wagner Garden Symposium. The event will be held on Saturday,

HAM DINNER

Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike North, Willow Street, will serve a free community meal on Tuesday, March 24. The meal will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. The menu will feature ham, green beans, macaroni and cheese, salad, and dessert. Everyone is invited to attend.

Heritage Society To Host Seed Workshop The Strasburg Heritage Society has invited its members and the general public to attend a series of workshops sponsored by the organization. The next workshop will be on starting seeds for the home garden, with a special emphasis on heirloom seeds. The workshop will be held on Sunday, March 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 28 E. Main St., Strasburg. Strasburg Heritage Society member and Master Gardener Heather Botchlet will be the presenter. Botchlet will offer information on selecting seeds and plants as well as details of various seed-starting methods. Propagation methods will also be covered if attendees express interest. At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to

plant seeds to take home with them. A nonrefundable registration fee will be charged, with a discount for Strasburg Heritage Society members. To register, contact Ann Lainhoff at 717-687-8816 or lainhoff@netscape.net.
