The 39th annual Amos Herr Community Festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amos Herr Park, 1700 Nissley Road, Landisville. In the case of rain, the event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 23. The event will include tours of the Amos Herr House and the barn, along with crafters, food, entertainment, a Kid Zone, and dancers. The Lancaster Kennel Club will offer dog activities. The Landisville Lions Club Antique and Classic Car Show will be part of the festival. Admission is free. Parking is available by donation. 60 Clay St., Mountville, will offer a new community program for preschool children and their caregivers from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Mondays, Sept. 24 to Dec. 3, except Nov. 19. The program will include free play in the fellowship hall, as well as a music class and parachute play. Adults may bring snacks for their child. Hempfield United Methodist Church (HUMC), 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster will offer “Living With Cancer,” a lunchtime support group, every other Wednesday, Sept. 12 through Dec. 12, from noon to 1:15 p.m. in room 124. Cancer coach and counselor Brenda Coffin will facilitate the support group. The informal gatherings will cover the mind, body, spiritual and emotional aspects of facing and living with cancer. EPC, Hempfield recCenter To Co-Host Wellness Fair By Dayna M. Reidenouer
Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc. (EPC) and the Hempfield recCenter will partner for the third year to host a Community Wellness Fair open to the public free of charge. The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Hempfield recCenter, 950 Church St., Landisville. “We have a number of resources and opportunities from the community represented,” said EPC publisher Jocelyn Engle. Almost 50 vendors from throughout Lancaster County are slated to attend the event, and Hempfield recCenter will give tours throughout the afternoon. Susquehanna Valley EMS will perform blood pressure screenings, INGROUP will provide body composition scans, and UPMC Pinnacle will have bone density scans and skin screenings. See Wellness Fair pg 3

“Paths to Prosperity: A Story of Two Generations” has been set as the theme for the third annual gala to benefit Mom’s House of Lancaster. The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, at Lancaster Country Club, 1466 New Holland Pike, Lancaster. The doors will open at 5 p.m., at which time attendees may purchase Mom’s House of Lancaster students, beverages and place bids in a silent teachers, and board members invite the auction. A celebration of the 10th anniversary of Daniel’s Den Playground will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 4 p.m. in the Manor Church Community Park, which is located next to Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Road, Lancaster. The event will include complimentary cake and ice cream as well as plenty of time to play. The vision for a playground accessible to children of all abilities was introduced by church member Denise Haldeman in late 2006. Haldeman’s young son, Daniel, used a wheelchair, and she wanted to ensure that he and other children like him would have an inclusive place to play. After more than
