Camp Cadet of Lancaster County, an overnight summer camp for youths ages 11 to 13 who live in Lancaster County, will be held from Sunday, Aug. 16, to Friday, Aug. 21, at Camp Ware in Peach Bottom. Boy Scout Troop 30 will host an all-you-can-eat fundraising breakfast on March 14 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church just outside of Centerville.
Pancakes and sausage will be the featured entrée at the sixth annual fundraising breakfast hosted by Boy Scout Troop 30 on Saturday, March 14, from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Orange juice, milk, and coffee will round out the all-you-can-eat meal, which will be held in the fellowship hall of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Ave., Lancaster. The room is on the lower level and is accessed through the double doors at the rear of the church. The venue is accessible by wheelchair users. Takeouts will be available. Admission to the meal will be payable at the door. The Scouts’ parents and other troop supporters from the
community will cook the meal, but the Scouts will be in charge of setting up, serving, clearing tables, and tearing down after the event. Additional troop members plan to station themselves by Columbia Avenue to attract the attention of passing motorists and invite them to the meal. The proceeds from the event will be used to purchase much-needed equipment for the troop, said equipment coordinator Mark Musante. “We have all kinds of equipment needs,” he added. “We just purchased a new, used trailer for camping. (Our equipment has) outgrown the old trailer.” “ We’re also replacing the 20-year-old tents,” commented Dan Keefer, troop committee chair. Baseball Team’s First Pitch Event 27th Annual IU13 Conference Aims For A Home Run To Emphasize Inclusion Community members are invited to attend the Hempfield High School baseball team’s First Pitch event on Friday, March 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will be held in the cafeteria of the high school, 200 Stanley Ave., Landisville, and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. An admission fee will be charged to adults, and youths will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. Hot dogs, soft pretzels, chips, desserts, and beverages will be available at no additional cost. Children’s games will also be offered free of charge. Everyone who attends is asked to bring a jar of peanut butter for the Power Packs Project. The nonprofit organization provides food to children and families in the Hempfield School District who have financial need. Each person who brings a jar of peanut but-
ter will be given two tickets to enter in a prize drawing. Additional opportunities to win prizes will be available. Attendees may place bids in a silent auction that will run throughout the evening. Items up for bids have been donated by area restaurants, supermarkets, entertainment venues, and families. Tickets to professional sporting events will be up for bids too. During the event, attendees may meet the members and coaches of this season’s baseball team. In turn, the athletes and staff members would like to express their gratitude for the community’s support of the baseball program. The First Pitch event is hosted by the Hempfield Baseball Booster Club. Proceeds from the annual occasion help to cover the cost of indoor training facility rental, team equipment purchases,

Registration has opened for the 27th annual Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13) education conference scheduled for Tuesday, June 23. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, 1600 Book Road, Lancaster.
Registration will open at 7:45 a.m., and attendees may partake of a continental breakfast while they visit the door prize zone and sponsor tables. “Agents of Change ... Mission POSSIBLE” is this year’s conference theme. “It is the hope that this conference will inspire anyone in the educational community to accept the mission of educating all learners,” said IU13 early childhood and special education services program director Kathy Rose. The keynote speaker embodies that mission.
