Donegal High School (DHS) senior class president Lauren Stwalley can remember moving to Mount Joy right before the start of first grade like it was yesterday. “Two days before school started, we drove past Donegal Springs (Elementary School), and I saw the playground and was so excited,” said Lauren. “I remember that so clearly, and now we’re already graduating.” Lauren will offer the welcoming address to her fellow classmates and the family, friends, and faculty members in the audience at the DHS Class of 2019 commencement ceremony, which is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday,

June 6, at the Donegal Athletic Complex, 1051 Koser Road, Mount Joy. Tickets are required to attend, and each of the estimated 224 graduates will receive eight tickets. The DHS Class of 2019 valedictorian and salutatorian will be announced at commencement and will be the featured speakers for the evening. In addition to commencement, the Class of 2019 will host a student-led baccalaureate ceremony on Sunday, June 2, at 7 p.m. in the DHS auditorium, 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy. HMPS To Host Strawberry Festival By Chelsea Peifer

Cool spring temperatures can sometimes delay peak strawberry season, but years of experience have meant that the organizers of the Haldeman Mansion Preservation Society (HMPS) Strawberry Festival usually hit the sweet spot with the timing of their event. The community is invited to attend the 14th annual HMPS Strawberry Festival on Sunday, June 2, from noon to 4 p.m. at the historic Haldeman Mansion, 230 Locust Grove Road, Bainbridge. Rainbow ’s End Youth Services (REYS) is preparing to launch LifeSwitch, a new program for middle school students, this summer. REYS program director Jeremy Freimark said that the middle school years are a time

of transition that can leave many students feeling in limbo - missing the routine and security of elementary school and excited for what lies ahead in high school, but unsure where they fit in the meantime. LifeSwitch is going to focus on helping students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades to grow See REYS pg 11

Summer programming at Rainbow’s End Youth Services (REYS) in Mount Joy will launch the week of June 10 to 14, including LifeSwitch, a new program for middle school students that will meet from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.
