The Memory Loss Support Group for Caregivers will meet on Tuesday, June 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Community Room at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy. The Elizabethtown Flower Club will meet at noon on Monday, June 3, at The Gathering Place, 6 Pine St., Mount Joy. The program will be “Freezing Strawberries and Freezer Jam” by Martha Zepp, Master Gardener. Guests are welcome. Reservations and cancellations must be made by noon on Thursday, May 30, by calling Mary Ann Kale at 717-653-9183 to avoid payment for a reserved meal. A cost for lunch has been set. FOOD DRIVE

will hold a food drive on Saturday, June 1, at Weis Market, 441 W. Main St., Mount Joy. Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., club members will be available to receive donations of nonperishable food items. The club members will then deliver the food to the Mount Joy and Conoy-East Donegal food banks.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 809 of Maytown will hold its 57th annual Antique, Art, Craft, and Collectible Show on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place in the Maytown Square and on East High Street, preceding the annual Maytown Memorial Day Parade at 4 p.m. Organizer and Auxiliary member Sara Gutshall explained that the antique show was established by the late Marilyn Fink, former Auxiliary president, in 1959. In its early years, the event had approximately a dozen vendors. Gutshall said the show continued growing through the years and now includes 50 or more vendors who travel from around Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland to take part in the event. Marietta To Hold Parade, Service The Marietta Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a memorial service. The parade and service are organized by the Marietta Memorial Day Parade Committee. The parade will feature the Donegal High School band, the Donegal Alumni Band, the Kiltie Band of York, and the Kracker Beez. Also in the line of march will be the Post 466 Riders Association, the Lancaster Fencibles 79th PVI, the American Legion Post 466 Auxiliary honorary members, military veterans, various civic groups, Scouts, and businesses. The Donegal High School homecoming and prom queens will also be featured. The memorial service will be held at the Marietta Cemetery. The service will feature Lt. Col. The community is invited to the annual Mount Joy Memorial Day Parade at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. The parade will form at Angle Street and continue down Main Street to Barbara Street. According to organizer Brenda Kready, the parade, which is known as one of the oldest Mount Joy native Charles Willis “Chas” Heaps, who Memorial Day was killed in action while serving in the Vietnam parades in Lancaster War at age 21, will be honored posthumously as the County, attracts grand marshal of the Mount Joy Memorial Day between 3,000 and Parade on May 25. 5,000 spectators every year. will welcome speaker Don Witmer to its meeting on Tuesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia. Witmer, a Lancaster native, served as a torpedo man in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Twiggs, which would join the Pacific Fleet in 1944. The ship was hit once, repaired, and then hit again a few months later, and it sunk enveloped in flames. Witmer was among the 188 survivors.
