Green Valleys Watershed Association will present a Bee Program at Welkinweir Pavilion, 1368 Prizer Road, Pottstown, on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. The program will teach participants how to support bees in their own backyard. Nonnative English speakers interested in improving their English language, writing and conversational skills are invited to take English as a Second Language (ESL) classes that will be offered this fall at Calvary Chapel Chester Springs, 217 Dowlin Forge Road, Exton. There is no fee to attend the classes. No child care will be provided. Five levels of classes - from Foundation and Beginners up to Advanced will be offered beginning on Monday, Sept. 10. Classes will be held every Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. through May 13, 2019. For the upcoming session, a new Special Conversation Class has been added and will be offered each Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. All are welcome. students is currently meeting on Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church to take part in a conversation class. The students are from various countries, including China, Taiwan and Ukraine, and they currently reside in the Honey Brook, Exton, Chester Springs, Downingtown and West Chester areas. The church began offering ESL classes two years ago. “A young man from Sri Lanka who goes to church here asked if we could start a class to teach English,” said Susan Vandenberg, who coordinates the program along with Mary Ann Thomas. “It started small with one-on-one (classes), and the (program) gradually grew.” Vandenberg said that last year 70 students took part in the ESL program at the church. “We have people from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Ecuador - all kinds of nationalities,” Vandenberg See ESL Classes pg 3

The lecture will take place in Bell Hall, which is located at the rear of the campus. From 6:30 to 7 p.m., there will be a reception with cheese and beverages. A cast of youths and young adults will present Disney’s “Newsies the Musical,” a Tony award-winning production, at Steel River Playhouse, 245 E. High St., Pottstown. The show ’s first weekend was Aug. 17 through 19.
