Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the 5K walk will start at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness. Afterward, participants may stay for an informal picnic lunch. Participants should bring their own bag lunches and lawn chairs. There is a suggested donation per family. Donations by cash or check will be collected at the entrance to the walk. Checks may be made payable to the Teri Dougherty Scholarship Fund. One hundred percent of the donations will go toward scholarships for two graduating Fritz students who have served their community through volunteering. Ken Martin and the Aglow Committee of Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community are excited to share the movie “I Can Only Imagine” with ELANCO-area residents. “We have been hearing about the movie,” said Martin, who added that a number of members of the committee had seen the film earlier this year at a Lancaster County theater. “(Those who saw it) were impressed, so we thought it would be a good thing to invite people in the local community to see,” added Martin. LMS Plans Annual Celebration Friendship Community Dinner To Focus On “Simple Joys” By Ann Mead Ash
When organizers of the Friendship Community 2018 fall banquet were searching for a keynote speaker, one staff member remembered that a friend of hers had heard “Chewbacca Mom” speak. “(The friend had) said, ‘This person is great, and she has a great message,’” recalled Kyle Gamble, marketing assistant at Friendship Community. “We were looking for someone to bring laughter and joy with a faith background,” added Gamble, noting, “This is a speaker (who) will be different from those we have had in the past.” Candace Payne, also known as “Chewbacca Mom,” filled the bill for Friendship organizers, who have engaged her to speak at the annual Friendship Community banquet on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Shady Maple See Banquet pg 2

Aubrey Kreider, director of marketing and communications at Lancaster Mennonite School (LMS), wants area residents to know that they need not have an affiliation with the school to attend the homecoming barbecue. “People who aren’t connected to the
school should feel welcome to come to the barbecue,” said Kreider. New additions to the Friday night activities designed especially for children will include a hayride and face painting.
