“We try to live out the parable of the Good Samaritan. We recognize people … who are hurting and suffering in our communities. We meet them where they’re at, and we respond with generosity and compassion,” said Nate Hoffer, chief executive officer of Good Samaritan Services, when he spoke recently at a meeting of the New Holland Area Kiwanis Club. Good Samaritan, with locations in Ephrata, Lancaster, Coatesville, and Phoenixville, was founded as the Good Samaritan Shelter in 2002 when several Phoenixville-area churches joined forces to help area residents who were struggling, especially with housing. The Ephrata location provides an 8,000square-foot homeless shelter to as many as 35 women and children per See Good Samaritan pg 5
Nate Hoffer, executive director of Good Samaritan Services, recently spoke at a meeting of the New Holland Area Kiwanis Club. The nonprofit organization helps those facing homelessness in locations in both Lancaster and Chester counties.
