Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown invites vendors of handcrafted items to register for Christmas Days 2018 in Dallastown, which will be held at the church on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The newly-renovated, expanded church will offer ample vendor space on a firstcome, first-served basis. The Green Thumb Garden Club will present “Using Edible Plants in Your Landscape” at KaltreiderBenfer Library, 147 S. Charles St., Red Lion. Master Gardener Carol MacDonald will offer suggestions from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. The program is open to adults. In addition, a program designed for children titled “Wiggly, Giggly Worms, Our Friends!” will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to noon. The program is suitable for children ages 5 to 11 and their parents. The programs are free and open to the community. Lions Club Awards Scholarship History Center Sets Colonial York Day

The Brogue Community Lions Club awarded this year’s annual scholarship to Andrew Bacon. He plans to attend Penn State York in the fall. Each year the $500 scholarship is awarded to a senior high school student who exhibits the Lions Club’s values and service to the community. The scholarship is funded through the sale of copies of the book “A History of Chanceford Township, York County, Pennsylvania 1747-1997.”

The York County History Center will present Colonial York Day, a free day of living history activities, on Saturday, July 28. The festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the History Center’s Colonial Complex at 157 W. Market St., York. The site includes the General Horatio Gates House and Golden Plough Tavern and the Colonial Court House. Colonial York Day will include 30-minute dramatizations of the election of York County’s first public official in 1750. The election ended in a brawl between German and Irish settlers. The dramatizations will take place at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. at the Bobb Log Cabin. In addition, visitors may engage with re-enactors,

Mark Hagenbuch will portray Baron Von Steuben, the man credited with professionalizing the Continental Army, on the Colonial Courthouse lawn at 11:30 a.m. The Lancaster Flying Camp will present mortar demonstrations at noon and 2 p.m. Wagon rides will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A presentation titled “18th-Century Law and Justice” will be presented by York County Judge Gregory M. Snyder in the Colonial Courthouse at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The family activity area will feature a log footprint the size of a typical home, furnished with a rope bed that may be strung and a mattress sack ready to be stuffed with straw and laid on. Local Group Learns About House Of Hope

St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, 3444 Sticks Road, Glen Rock, will host its sixth annual Book Drop for India on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Books needed and accepted include children’s books, Bibles, “National Geographic” magazines, hymnals, song books, Christian books, reference books, and others. The books will be given to Advance Global Literature in Menges Mills and sent to India Bible Literature to be distributed in India. Monetary donations will be accepted to help with shipping. The organization provides spiritual guidance, education, counseling and mentoring in a 24-hour residential setting.
