Water’s Edge United Methodist Church, 471 Abels Road, Wrightsville, will present a free family-friendly movie on Friday, Aug. 17. Yorkfest Celebration Will Showcase The Arts

Wrightsville Presbyterian Church, 205 N. Second St., Wrightsville, will offer a free community meal on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 4 p.m. The church’s Breaking Bread Ministries offers a free meal the fourth Saturday of each month. POND WORKSHOP
4945 Horn Road, York, will host a Pond Building Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To increase the biodiversity and wildlife habitat in the woodland, participants will build a pond measuring 35 feet in diameter as part of a woodland restoration project. Instructor Wilson Alvarez will lead participants through the process of site selection, pond design, pond building, earth repair, and the method of using clay as a natural pond liner. The workshop will take place outdoors, so attendees should dress for the weather. They should bring a their own lunch, water bottle, and a shovel and pick. To register, visit www.hornfarmcenter.org. Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 2164 Mount Zion Road, York, will present the McClinton Family as part of its recital series on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary. The music featured during the program will run the gamut from classical to show tunes and pop music. The public is invited to attend. The event is free, but a freewill offering will be received. Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will feature artwork by fine artists from across the country, along with hands-on activities, music, poetry, and food. The team members of Brittany’s Hope are thrilled to have an honored guest who has traveled all the way from Texas to train for and attend the 14th annual Walk of Love Cross Country 5K and Fun Walk on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Stone Gables Estate, 1 Hollinger Lane, Elizabethtown. Dolly, one of the newest miniature ponies to reside in the Shepherd’s Staff Petting Zoo at the Star Barn Village at Stone Gables Estate, has already begun training with caretaker and international award-winning trainer Carl O’Callaghan. Dolly, a miniature pony that resides in the Shepherd’s Staff Petting Zoo at Stone Gables Estate in Elizabethtown, is currently working with international award-winning trainer Carl O’Callaghan to train for the Walk of Love on Sept. 15. The 14th annual cross-country 5K and fun walk will benefit Brittany’s Hope.
Her name is Lorraine Murungu. Her son, who is named Blessed, was born with cerebral palsy, and he is paraplegic and unable to speak. Murungu has learned to make rag dolls, a product that can be marketed heavily near the beginning of the school year in Zimbabwe, where Murungu lives. A loan from a HOPE International group has helped make her business possible. See HOPE International pg 2
