The American Heart Association, a voluntary health organization focused on heart and brain health, invites business, health care and community leaders from across York County to attend the 2019 York Heart Ball. The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, at 6 p.m. at the Country Club of York, 1400 Country Club Road, York. Local news anchor Amy Lutz will host the evening’s festivities, which will include silent and live auctions, a heart-healthy dinner, musical entertainment and dancing. The evening’s Open Your Heart appeal will feature the story of Bristol Miller, a 2-year-old cardiac arrest survivor from Airville. On March 1, 2018, 14-month-old Bristol was home with her babysitter while her parents, Josh and Leah Miller, were at work. That afternoon, Josh, who is also a local paramedic, received an emergency page for a pediatric cardiac arrest at the babysitter’s address. He knew immediately

St. Joseph School in York recently hosted students from St. Joseph School in Dallastown and St. Patrick School. The students gathered to hear a presentation by Miss Pennsylvania, Kayla Repasky. The students also prepared blankets to donate to Project Linus as an act of kindness as part of the 10,000 Acts of Kindness Campaign in York. The nearly 500 students from the three York Deanery Schools prepared 20 blankets that will be donated to the local York Project Linus. These blankets will be given to children who are terminally ill, who have experienced traumas, or who are in need of a blanket. Repasky’s personal platform is Think First America, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that presents “Think Before You Post” and “Think First, Be Kind” programs. “Think Before You Post,” for students of all ages, teaches attendees how large the internet is, how to utilize social media, and the importance of being kind on the internet. “Think First, Be Kind” teaches students character traits of kindness
