Yorkfest Celebration Will Showcase The Arts

100 Haybrook Drive, York, will host an outdoor family movie night at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17. A recently released, family-friendly movie will be shown. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. The community event is open to all ages. In the event of rain, the movie will be shown indoors. Vietnam veteran Herold Redding will talk about his experiences during the Wednesday, Aug. 22, meeting of ALLVETS. The oral history will be recorded at the Historical Society Museum, Library and Archives, 250 E. Market St., York, at 7 p.m. ALLVETS is a local nonprofit with the goal of preserving the stories of local veterans for the future. The recordings, audio or audio/video, are open to the public. Each recording will be approximately one hour, and veterans may preregister at no cost. For more information, contact allvets1york@gmail.com.

Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will feature artwork by fine artists from across the country, along with hands-on activities, music, poetry, and food. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26, in downtown York. The Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26, in downtown York. Oughton. His pen-and-ink drawing “Lite Aire” is being used in print advertisements, postcards, billboards, and festival merchandise. Additionally, 100 fine artists from across the country have been chosen to participate in the Yorkfest Festival Marketplace. A variety of activities will also be available during Yorkfest. reception for art and literary award winners at the gallery on Friday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. New this year, a Silent Disco will take place in Cherry Lane on Aug. 24 from 8 to 11 p.m. The Yorkfest Youth Art and Literary Exhibits will be displayed at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess St. An awards ceremony will take place on Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.

Creative York will present the Creative York Family Courtyard, featuring a variety of interactive community art projects. The area will be located in the Gates and Plough Tavern Courtyard. ChalkWalk will feature colorful chalk murals being created along Market Street between Pershing and Beaver streets on Aug. 25. Church Announces Concert Series

will hold its annual Community Days on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at the Saginaw Picnic Grove, located across the street from the Saginaw Park, 725 York St., Mount Wolf. The Duke Street Deacons will provide entertainment from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees may purchase chicken corn soup, sandwiches and baked goods. 5-MILE RACE

York Road Runners Club will host the 41st York White Rose 5-Mile Run on Saturday, Sept. 15. Runners will step off from the White Rose Bar and Grill, 48 N. Several of the seniors have been competing every year, and each year they participate in more of the events. The Senior Games is a week of events, some of which are competitions. The week starts with a walk and ends with a ceremony.
