DOCTORS LAKE DRIVE SHARED USE PATH
The Doctors Lake Drive Shared Use Path is a 4.5 mile long, 10’ wide path adjacent to Doctor’s Lake Drive in Clay County from Peoria Road to Kingsley Avenue. The improvements consisted of replacing the narrow 6’ path with a 10’ wide asphaltic concrete path, and also included ditch bottom inlets, storm sewer, and headwalls to alleviate some existing drainage problems. Aluminum pipe guiderail was added on top of gravity walls where needed. A highlight of the project ncluded replacing three old narrow concrete slab bridges with prefabricated steel structures. Also, portions of the path were split into two separate paths meandering around large shade trees.
PRITCHARD ROAD EXTENSION
ETM provided design, permitting and post-design services for a 3-mile extension to Pritchard Road in Northwest Jacksonville. The project included an aerial crossing over the Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail (Baldwin Trail), which is owned by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida, and leased to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Office of Greenways and Trails (OGT). The trail is currently subleased to the City of Jacksonville (COJ) with operation and maintenance falling under the responsibility of the Recreation and Community Services group. The Baldwin Trail is a multi-purpose paved trail, flanked by an equestrian trail. Use of the trail includes hiking, jogging, walking, bicycling, inline skating, nature watching and horseback riding. The Baldwin Trail right-of-way is bounded by Cary State Forest. The project design proposed to construct a ConSpan bridge system to convey trail users safely, and uninterrupted under the elevated roadway.
Since the roadway and aerial crossing were eventually be conveyed to the City of Jacksonville, ETM effectively coordinated the aerial crossing over the Baldwin Trail on behalf of the City of Jacksonville. ETM worked closely with the OGT and COJ to prepare a document (Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Submittal) that detailed the need, benefit and specific design of the proposed aerial crossing, while also addressing PD&E issues such as noise and air quality impacts, environmental records research, historical and cultural resources, and feedback obtained from a public meeting held to present the proposed project and potential impacts to the Baldwin Trail users. Since federal funding had been used to construct the Baldwin Trail, obtaining FHWA approval of the design component was also necessary.

ST. JOHNS RIVER TO SEA LOOP TRAIL STATUS UPDATE
At the request of FDOT Districts Two and Five, ETM prepared the first comprehensive summary report for the St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop Trail, marking a major milestone in the planning and development of this 300-mile, 5-county trail. ETM assessed the entire length of the trail and made route recommendations in order to improve the quality of the project. This work was developed pro bono by ETM and serves as a testament to ETM’s commitment to our community. Since completion of the report, ETM has continued to serve as an advocate for the development of the trail and has spoken at various events including the recent “Balancing Nature and Commerce on Florida’s Space Coast” Forum.
The Trail Status Update Report was awarded a national award for communication from the Society for Marketing Professional Services.
PUTNAM COUNTY RAIL TRAIL
This design build project between ETM and APAC included four miles of 12’-wide shared use path along the old Norfolk Southern The project included the design of the trail, roadway and driveway crossings, culvert extensions, ADA ramps, fencing, and all required markings. This section of the trail is the next link in the Palatka to Lake Butler State Trail, and a part of the state wide system of by the FDEP offices of Greenways and Trails. Extensive coordination was required between ETM, the SJRWMD and the ACOE to wetland impacts.
