StableTable - No ordinary tables! ®

StableTable are unique patented self-stabilising table bases for professional use in the hospitality industry. The table bases automatically adjust to any uneven surface and manage height differences of up to 25 mm. No more adjustment screws, folded napkins under table legs or wobbly tables.

Inside the centre pillar, well protected from gravel, dirt or other external influences sits the simple yet ingenious mechanical system that allows the legs to move and adjust to the ground while ensuring the correct height of the table. Due to the unique solution the table bases automatically adjust to both bumps and grooves and also take away approx. 50% of the tilt so that the tables align easier when placed next to each other. Half-empty tables are annoying and revenue management is important and you need guests on every chair. StableTable table bases are both light and easy to work with and you can easily move your tables around without them starting to wobble. Place two together as a 4-seater and if only two guests arrive pull the tables 10-15cm apart to create separate tables or set them as separate tables and move them together when necessary. The tables are produced too the highest quality standards in an ISO-certified factory in Sweden. Our special paint technique ensures that there is no chipping or flaking and the tables can be used outside all year round.

StableTable - Flip Top! ®

StableTable Classic Flip Top is based on the same unique self-stabilising system as all StableTable bases. In addition, it is fitted with a high-quality flip top mechanism that allows the table top to flip 90 degrees. This makes the tables very compact to store and easy to lift in and out. StableTable Flip Top is the ideal solution for cafés or restaurants with limited storage area or where you move the tables in and out every day. StableTable Flip Top can be used with round, square and rectangular table tops in sizes from 60 cm up to 80 cm round, 50x50 cm to 70x70 cm square or anything between 50 and 70 cm rectangular. StableTable - No ordinary tables! ®

StableTable are unique patented self-stabilizing table bases for profesional use in the hospitality industry. Fully automatically the table bases adjusts to any uneven surface and manages height differences of up to 20-25 mm. Inside the centre pillar the well protected mechanical system is placed, it allows two of the cross legs to adjust to the ground while two legs are fixed to ensure the correct height of the table. Due to this unique feature the table bases take away approx. 50% of the tilt and the tables align much easier when placed next to each other. Use StableTable in- or outside all year around on any type of surface! StableTable table bases are both light and stable and very easy to work with. Lift, move and place them wherever you want and they will always automatically stabilize. Produced in Sweden in an ISO- certified plant they are fully recyclable.

Revenue management is important and you need guests on every chair. With StableTable you can move your tables around without them starting to wobble. Place two together as a 4-seater and if only two guests arrive pull the tables 10-15cm apart to create separate tables. The top cross sits in the same direction as the legs. This makes it easy to stack the tables when collected over night.

EasyLock™ holes on each of the top cross wings make it easy to lock the bases together with a wire.

FlexCross™ top cross is produced in folded metal and not in the cheaper cast iron. This gives superior strength and the necessary flex as not to pull or strain the screws in the table top and the table top stays put.

The high quality powder coating system with both cleaning and pre-coating treatments together with a special hardening system protects the table bases and allows for all StableTable bases to be used outside all year around. If the paint is damaged it will not start to flake or chip.

By welding the different parts of the table base together, instead of as on simpler table bases using a bolt going all the way through the table base with nuts at each end, the problem of table bases becoming loose is fully avoided and assembly unnecessary!

The StableTable patent fully locks the table’s legs. In contrast to hydraulic systems StableTable is never impacted by weight or people leaning on the tables.

The unique fully mechanical self-stabilizing system is placed well protected in the centre pillar away from dirt, rain, snow and other external influence works year after year without any need for service or maintenance.

The unique patented system with two movable legs adjust both for grooves and bumps and manage height differences up to 25mm irrespective of how you place the table.

The interchangeable feet are made of high durability plastic. By using an M6 screw, we ensure that the feet don’t bend or break. If necessary You can order larger feet for wider distances between cobble stones or high friction feet for slippery floors.

As no part of the StableTable self-stabilizing system is down by the feet, sand, gravel, dirt or wear and tear will not impact the system and the tables can be used even under conditions such as snow or freezing.

StableTable® unique table bases are; Fully self-adjusting Manage height differences up to 20-25mm Work on any uneven surface groves no valves, no hydraulics, no impact from external factors Fully automatic Can be used both in- and outdoors Make it easier to rearrange the seating Save time Lower cost Give more satisfied customers Makes less stressed employees Promote increased revenues

Our self-stabilizing bases Lounge Height; 500mm Table tops; 550-800mm Café/Dinner Height; 700mm Table tops; 550-1200mm Poseur/Cocktail Height; 1080mm Table tops; 550-800mm

Two of the cross legs are attached to the centre pillar. This is vital as to ensure that the table height is always the same. The specially developed welding technique gives the base the extra strength needed if people sit on the tables.

Instead of “simply” drilling a shallow hole for the feet we use a unique Tungsten method where the hole and a 6-8mm winding is created in the leg by melting and displacing the metal. This keeps the feet from falling off. ®

LONDON’S FINEST HOTELS RECEIVE THE THOMANN-HANRY TREATMENT Extensive exterior works undertaken throughout busy summer trading period… Exterior cleaning and restoration experts, Thomann-Hanry (www.Thomann-Hanry.co.uk), were recently commissioned to restore and rejuvenate the exterior of three iconic London hotels via the use of their ‘Façade Gommage®’ and Aqua Fend® (www.AquaFend.co.uk) offerings. Hotel markets continue their recovery in the UK It would be easy for hotel owners not to have noticed that the market for selling their businesses has been steadily improving over the last two years. With their hotels seeing the growth coming from an improving economy and freer spending customers they have had positive issues at home to focus on! However, the market has been showing consistent recovery with more competition and better bank funding availability driving speed of transactions and prices too. Here at Colliers we are ahead of the transactional volume of last year at the same point and with dozens of sales in solicitors hands at the moment we expect to exceed last year’s total of 103 sales by a considerable margin.

Hotelier & Hotel Design

Julian Troup, Head of UK Hotel Agency at Colliers International commented:

44

“There has undoubtedly been a positive change in the UK Hotel landscape in the last 12 months with an improvement in confidence noticed by many across the board. UK hotel RevPAR is up so far this year by about 5% which is making hotel owners feel better.” “Banks are recognising this improvement in trade, meaning they are now becoming more supportive of the sector. Potential purchasers are also more positive about the prospect of investing into the hotel sector. We are confident that this trend will continue into 2015”

So what are the secrets to selling well in today’s market? Peter Brunt who heads the hotel’s team business in the south west and south and mid Wales has sold more businesses in each of the last two years than he did in 2007 and says that the following helps maximise price and speed of transaction: t Plan for the sale in advance using your agents experience and expertise t Have detailed and up to date trading figures available t Keep all statutory requirements up to date t Set the price at the right level Peter says: “Too many agents are not strong enough to actually tell owners the truth on price. Unless you do that owners can offer their business for sale at over ambitious prices when the right advice might well have been to delay a year or more. Price expectations during marketing are not grounded in reality and that can mean that perfectly good offers are refused only for the owner to realise months later that it was the right price. At Colliers we have the knowledge and integrity to give honest and accurate advice to our clients.”

What were the main drivers behind working with IMC to manage your waste? Since starting to recycle our food we wanted to further reduce our carbon footprint, we had already help of Compactors Direct.

Hotelier & Hotel Design

Compactors Direct approached us with the IMC system as they are distributors of the IMC Waste station. Unfortunately as in most hotels of our size space is a premium in our kitchens. Working with Compactors Direct and IMC we came up with a solution of having the waste station built into our main dishwasher. This enable us to reduce the food waste at the point of source and maximize our food waste recycling as well as reducing our food waste collection and reducing our own carbon footprint.

48

What results have you seen so far, both in terms of reducing carbon savings? Our food waste has been reduced by up to 80% so our food waste collection have been greatly reduced so we have seen as we are not having as many food waste collections our carbon footprint has also been greatly dewatering is the removal of the odors associated with waste food which is not only unpleasant but can attract all manner of vermin. On top of technologies like those provided by IMC, how important are small changes within your business to reducing waste? (For example, changing staff culture, training, smaller portions, and so on) Please give some examples of these at your business. With working with Compactors Direct and also IMC we have installed a glass crusher to reduce our glass collections, as baler to reduce our cardboard collections and a bin press to reduce the collections of our DMR. Meliå Hotels International is now looking at installing the IMC waste station in our hotels that are currently being built in the UK. In recent years how much have customers’ attitudes changed towards waste reduction? Is it more important for them now that businesses do have an effective strategy in place? In recent years we have found that our customers are more aware of how businesses are dealing with their waste and are interested in steps to reduce both their waste and carbon footprint. At Melia Whitehouse we are very proud of being able to promote to our customers that we are proactive in our reduction of waste, being able to fully recycle and the reduction of our carbon footprint.

Cut the cost of food waste disposal with a liquidfoodcomposterfromCompactorsDirect

With simple, safe, quiet and odour-free operation, the LFC is a fully enclosed, automatic composting machine that disposes of any raw or cooked food matter within 24 hours, making it the ideal processing station of choice for sites of food production. Once installed in the kitchen or work area, you can add food waste to the unit at any time and only grey water is safely discharged into the sewage system. Water is injected into the LFC to maintain equilibrium for its microorganisms, to rapidly decompose the food, and to flush composted material out of the machine. An internal rotating arm slowly churns the waste to constantly mix the old and new food, oxygen, and micro-organisms to enhance the decomposing function. In reducing the volume of food waste that would otherwise be placed in rubbish bins, with the attendant labour time, smells and attraction to flies and rodents that would entail, a catering establishment’s environmental credentials are

hugely boosted by a reduced carbon footprint and adherence to a ‘zero to landfill’ policy. The LFC’s cloud-connected diagnostics system, with touchscreen interface, continuously monitors and reports data on the weight of food waste produced and can be accessed remotely via any computer, tablet or smartphone. Reporting on savings made is efficient and easily measurable, while scheduling maintenance and even data aggregation across multiple machines are further tools at your fingertips. The LFC is available in a range of capacities to suit all sizes of establishment. With payback typically between six and 24 months, a business will see a return on investment within a maximum of two years. Compactors Direct is the sole supplier of PowerKnot LFC machines in the UK and also offers a full range of total waste management services and equipment, including compactors, cardboard balers, glass crushers and food dewatering machines. Compactors Direct to Launch Liquid Food Composter at Waste-Works Compactors Direct will be presenting the Power Knot Liquid Food Composter (LFC) at Waste-Works, the only waste and resource event dedicated to the food and drink industry, which will take place at the ExCeL Centre, London, from 22-25 March 2015. Compactors Direct, a leading supplier and provider of waste management equipment and services, is the sole distributor of the LFC in the UK. The LFC is a fully enclosed automatic food digesting machine which turns most food waste into grey water within 24 hours. It can digest both raw and cooked food waste including fruit, vegetables, meat, only output is water which is suitable for disposal down a grey water drain. The LFC employs and accelerates a series of processes in which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the presence of oxygen. This acceleration is achieved with the unit’s patented mixture of naturally occurring microbes and enzymes as well as the optimisation of aeration, moisture and temperature levels within the LFC. The LFC’s display panel accurately reports the amount of waste disposed of and CO2 saved which can be accessed remotely via the unit’s cloud connectivity to compare data from multiple sites. The LFC starts at £15,000 or £85 per week with a typical payback of six months to two years. The unit has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years with remote diagnostics, service and back up throughout the UK from Compactors Direct’s technicians.

Mercedes Hemingway-Price, Head of Recycling and Waste Development at Compactors Direct, said: “The LFC is simple to operate and greatly reduces the cost of food waste disposal by diverting

Grosvenor Wilton Combines Retro Designs And Contemporary Colour In First Retail Carpet Collection It has been a very interesting time for Grosvenor Wilton. Last year they were commissioned to produce the carpets for the sets of ITV series Downton Abbey and in May 2014 Kidderminster-based carpet manufacturer Grosvenor Wilton, one of the UK’s finest and oldest carpet manufacturers, launched its first retail range. The British-made Diversity Collection is based on classic retro designs and modern colours. It will retail from £79 per linear metre and will be sold through several channels including http://www. diversitycollection.co.uk and via social media. Grosvenor Wilton’s new Diversity Collection transfers the company’s expertise in specialist restoration, historic and interiordesigner markets to retail carpeting. The 12 launch designs are united by the idea of ‘a fusion of heritage and fresh new design’. The new collection is inspired by the company’s huge archive of classic 1950s and 1960s carpet designs – with the addition of contemporary colours. Benjamin Grosvenor started carpet making in 1790. Since then, the business that has evolved into Grosvenor Wilton has specialised in the most discerning requirements for design and durability. Grosvenor Wilton is traditionally associated with highend bespoke carpet for residential and historic houses, film sets and museums. The Worcestershire company’s portfolio includes many high profile commissions: carpeting for Buckingham Palace’s throne room; the set of ITV’s Downton Abbey; and Stephen Spielberg’s blockbuster, Lincoln. Now, for the first time, the quality and design flair that royalty and Hollywood stars walk on is available as a retail product.

Hotelier & Hotel Design

As well as demonstrating over 200 years of carpet making expertise, the new collection is exceptionally versatile. Applications include wall-to-wall fitting, runners or being made up into edged rugs. Recommended retail prices are from £79 per linear metre. The new range will be available through http://www. diversitycollection.co.uk

64

Announcing the launch, Grosvenor Wilton’s managing director, Malcolm Foley, said: “Our new Diversity Collection unlocks the huge potential of the luxury retail carpet market. With over 200 years’ expertise distilled into the new range, discerning homeowners can combine unique style with the quality and pedigree that delights the most demanding carpet buyers. Seeing and feeling is the key to understanding our fusion of heritage and fresh new design. Were he still around, I’m sure Benjamin Grosvenor would be amazed by our novel approach to carpet retailing using technology and media such as the diversity collection website.” For more information, please call Tori on 01242 220233 or visit http://www.diversitycollection.co.uk

Floor Focus

Wood is still the number one choice when it comes to flooring in the hospitality sector. Creating elegant and luxury interiors that are welcoming and feels like a home is at the forefront of designers’ minds, and fashion-led, flexible solutions play a key role in their work. Gone are the days when wood floor meant natural beech or oak – today’s choice is truly exciting with an array of textures, finishes and colours on offer. In the last couple of years, Junckers has developed and brought to market several design led floors – brushed, textured finishes highlighted with colour to enhance the natural variations and grain patterns of the timber; adding pearlised finishes to extra wide oak boards; creating a floor with a rustic, weathered look which echoes the patina of an aged floor to suit the increasingly popular industrial look and bringing out a parquet floor, the flooring trend of the moment, made from wide board planks that are pre-finished – all made in solid hardwood, remaining true to the standard of high quality product Junckers is known for.

Hotelier & Hotel Design

The choice of floor in an interior scheme can set the tone for the entire concept and increasingly, the floor is no longer considered as a ‘background’ in a scheme but is often the starting point of a design. Says Steve Maltby, Managing Director of Junckers Ltd: “We’ve definitely seen an increase in the demand for stronger, bolder looks in wooden floors. One trend that seems here to stay is parquet floors, which offers a beautifully crafted style in stunning patterns. In response to our continuous dialogue with designers and architects, we have now developed Whalebone Staves, a parquet floor which is delivered pre-finished, which means there is no need for on-site sanding and finishing – as soon as the floor has been installed, it is ready to walk on.”

66

Junckers’ new Whalebone Staves is a contemporary take on the classic parquet floor with a perfect, factory applied finish in UltraMatt lacquer. The extra-long, wide board staves measure 700x140mm and are available in solid, natural Oak or Black Oak. As well as a herringbone pattern, Whalebone Staves can be laid in square basket or ladder patterns. All Junckers floors are FSC and PEFC certified.

With a staggering location on the world famous Royal Crescent in Bath, this quintessential English heritage hotel has been luxuriously reconsidered for the 21st Century. Listed within the Best UK Holiday Hotels and the Best UK Hotel Spas categories in October’s Condé Nast Traveller Reader’s Awards, it’s already proving a hit. The refurbishment and restoration programme was a labour of love, with every effort made to restore this

beautiful example of Georgian heritage sympathetically. Somerset-based designer Jane Clayton Interiors worked with Brian Cohen, project manager on behalf of Topland Group , to carry out work on this prestigious project. History lovers will be thrilled not only by the hotel’s Georgian architecture, but by historical references throughout. The 45 rooms and suites were individually re-designed, plasterwork ceilings restored, and period features protected. Every room has been artfully curated to give it a distinctive character, with classic antique pieces such as four-poster beds or roll top baths. All of the suites have been named after famous Bath residents, including Lord Nelson, Gainsborough, Brinsley Sheridan, Eliza Lucas and Elizabeth Linley. Encouraging guests to experience these rooms and suites in style, the hotel has launched a series of new packages. Those looking for the ultimate Bath experience can take advantage of the new midweek Suite Indulgence offer that starts from £699 includes suite accommodation, breakfast, three course dinner in The Dower House Restaurant and one half hour spa treatment per person in The Spa .

& Spa Launches New Look and New Packages The Spa has been given a new lease of life by specialist company Spa Creators. Interior design embraces ancient and modern spa culture simultaneously - Georgian stone is met by natural woods, bamboo pebble and slate. In line with the re-launch, the spa has introduced a series of new residential packages, day retreats and offers. Examples include the One Night Spa Break which includes accommodation, two-course lunch, a one-hour spa treatment per person and costs from £400 per room per night based on two people sharing. The new Fabulous Four package offers a group of four the chance to enjoy the spa, sauna and steam room and get pampered with a facial or massage and mini manicure or pedicure. This costs from £299 for a group of four and includes lunch or afternoon tea at The Dower House Restaurant.
