IT’S SHOW TIME WITH

JANUARY FURNITURE SHOW

As the industry starts the countdown to the furniture event of the year – The January Furniture Show 2017 (JFS) – visitors can expect bigger and better as organisers announce a raft of new names, a partnership with the Society of British Interior Designers, a collaboration with the Great Hospitality Show and a designated new exhibitor zone. Making a welcome return to the show after 16 years, Michael Tyler is the latest high profile name to join the impressive line-up alongside new sign ups Premier Housewares, Celio Furniture, Lifestyle Europe and Gwinner. The next show will also see a partnership with the Society of British Interior Designers (SBID) to host a members area in Hall 2, and a collaboration with the Great Hospitality Show taking place in Hall 9 (23-25 January) – this will allow visitors dual registration so that they only have to sign up once and offers a free shuttle bus in between the halls. Said Laraine Janes of the January Furniture Show: “We are delighted that SBID is involved in the show and creating a designated lounge area for interior designers. It will give them the opportunity to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the show.” The four-day trade show which runs from Sunday 22 until Wednesday 25 January is a must attend event for designers and architects. It gives visitors the first opportunity of the year to see the best of the best in cabinet furniture, upholstery and beds to soft furnishings, flooring and giftware. Said Steve Smedley, managing director of Michael Tyler: “The last time we exhibited at the NEC in January was 2001 but we feel the time is right for us to exhibit once again. The new show offers an ideal opportunity to present our latest collection to a wide audience including designers and architects.

“Exhibiting at trade shows is becoming increasingly important as retailers have less time to leave their stores and visit individual manufacturer’s showrooms.” The next show will also see a dedicated exhibitor zone for smaller companies featuring in Hall 3 along with the return of the Flooring Showcase with companies such as Westex, Edel Telenzo, Victoria Carpets and Think Rugs. The fabric area will, once again, take place in Hall 1 with Kobe, Swaffer, The Isle Mill, Ian Mankin Fabrics, Essente, Barker & Barker and Titley & Marr. Laraine, said: “The show provides designers and architects the opportunity to get ahead of the game by seeing the up and coming trends in one go, under one roof. With a high calibre of exhibitors for 2017, and with the show being bigger than ever before, there will be an array of inspiration from the many beautiful stands, product designs and concepts.”
