Home Journal What was it about your Home that made you decide to purchase it in the first place? The first thing was the land itself – beautiful flat lot with trees and massive lilac hedges running either side of the yard, creating a private cozy atmosphere. Then there were some of the original 1930’s wood windows with wavy glass... hinting at what the house used to be... and lastly... it was like buying two homes for one... the Carriage house was an unexpected gift and really helped me make the most of this property. If you have Pets, what part of the Home do they call their own? The Sunroom in the front of the house is the ultimate spot for my pups to watch the neighbourhood... bossing walker’s by and all feather and furred nature that passes through... Its also the best sunlight, and made a truly entertaining home office during pandemic with the garden; including all the various birds, deer, and even a little fawn napping in the flower bed one morning.... What was the best spot to entertain guests and what inspired current décor? Depending on the season, Summertime on the deck watching the garden full of pollinators, various birds like juncos, hummingbirds, quail, and occasional owl or merlin on the hunt... it’s just always a hub of nature and blooms. Cooler weather though, it’s the living room with the warmth and comfort that the cottage style of home offers that appeals most... being able to sit on the sofa and see through the dining room, right to the back door gives a feeling of space and comfort. Given this home’s hints at its 1930’s roots.... I dived into the cottage style, bringing back millwork, renovating the kitchen for function and form, and updating the spacious bathroom... all to flow together and give you that homey feel... all my guests say the same thing about how relaxed and welcomed they feel when visiting. And when its just me, and throwing on the tunes while baking in the kitchen, isn’t a bad way to spend the afternoon either...
