How does PayPoint work?

It’s easy, look out for a barcode on your new bill.

Just hand your bill to the shop assistant, make your payment and they will give you a receipt.

The barcode on the bill will ensure the payment is processed to your Enfield account. Don’t forget to keep hold of the receipt for your records.

How can I find my nearest PayPoint?

The easiest way to find you nearest PayPoint outlet is to visit www.paypoint.co.uk Or just look out for the PayPoint sign when you are out in the borough or further afield.

What Enfield Council bills can I pay at PayPoint?

Can bills be paid online?

Yes. For information on making payments online visit www.enfield.gov.uk

What payment methods do PayPoints accept and is there a transaction limit?

All PayPoint retailers will accept cash and some accept debit and credit card payments.

The maximum that can be paid in one transaction is £300. The limit is set by PayPoint as some retailers will be small shops, so this limits how much cash they handle in store.

What should I do if I need to pay more than the £300 transaction limit?

For an even easier option, join tens of thousands of Enfield households and sign up for Direct Debit! Visit www.enfield.gov.uk/directdebit.

If you need help setting up a Direct Debit for Council Tax call 020 8379 1000, and select option 2 and for Business Rates call 020 8379 4760. Or you can pop into one of the following locations where a member of staff will be able to help you. You don’t need an appointment for this.

I currently pay my Housing Rent through the Post Office, will I still be able to do this?

Yes. The same barcode on your bill or rent card can also be used at the Post Office and Payzone retailers.

PayPoint has many more retailers so it may be worth checking where the nearest one is to you as it may be more local.

Is this a safe way to pay?

PayPoint is a bill payment market leader and trusted processor of high volumes of transactions. It is a safe way to pay. Many Enfield residents are already using PayPoint to pay other bills.

How long will it take for the payment to show up on my account?

It will take around 4 working days from when you pay at the PayPoint to show up on your account. So, if you paid at a PayPoint on Monday, the earliest it will show on your account is Thursday.

If I have a query with a payment made at PayPoint, who can I contact?

For any queries or enquiries, please refer to the ways to contact us on the inside back page. Please allow 24 hours before making an enquiry to allow the payment to reach the Council. The PayPoint retailer will not have access to council information, so will not be able to provide any assistance.

How do I get a refund for a payment I made through PayPoint?

PayPoint retailers cannot process refunds. If you are entitled to a refund, please call the number on your bill / invoice where a member of staff will be able to look at this for you. 

Why have we made this change?

The current facility is not convenient for all customers and opening times are restricted. PayPoint offers more locations and longer opening hours while still being able to pay in person.

Information for customer payment queries or enquiries Council Tax

Your Council Tax letter contains your account number.

You can check your account balance by registering and signing into your Enfield Connected account at www.enfield.gov.uk.

If you need help call 020 8379 1000, select option 2 or visit www.enfield.gov.uk and select Council Tax.

Business Rates

Your Business Rate letter contains your account number.

If you need help call 020 8379 4766 or visit www.enfield.gov.uk and select Business Rates.

Housing Benefit Overpayments

Your Housing Benefit letter contains your account number.

Housing Rent

Your Statement of Rent Account letter contains your account number.

You can check your account balance and payment history by registering and signing in to your Enfield Connected account at www.enfield.gov.uk.

Leaseholders

Your Leaseholder Annual Estimate letter contains your payment reference number.

Invoice to pay for a Council service or charge

Your invoice contains your account number and invoice number.

If you need help with your Adult Social Care invoice, call 020 8379 3521. For general invoice queries call 020 8379 8056.
