01 - THERMAL RESORT

REDEVELOPMENT OF THE HISTORIC BAGNI SAN FILIPPO INTO A THERMAL RESORT

2022-2024 | Bagni San Filippo, Italy

MASTER’S THESIS PROJECT

This research addresses the requirements of the Detailed Plan drafted by the municipality of Castiglione d’Orcia, based on the Intermunicipal Structural Plan, which calls for the redevelopment and recovery of the disused Ex Amiata Marmi site.

During the extraction of travertine the old thermal water source was rediscovered. This discovery, combined with various human interventions, has led to the creation of new hot water thermal pools that integrate with the morphological foundation of the former factory.

The municipality’s request is summarized in the construction of a thermal complex of at least 2,500 sqm, which may also include restaurant and accommodation services.

02 - ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ANNE FRANK SCHOOL 2019 | Teamwork | Florence, Italy Published on architettura_unifirenze

ENVIROMENTAL DESIGN

The redevelopment of the “Anne Frank” primary school aimes to integrate the architectural project with a series of “environmental strategies” in order to reduce energy consumption and to ensure a sustainable approach.

In particular, the new school complex, in addition to offering fully accessible spaces for the handicapped, consists of a low “Energy need” system through a rainwater collection system, panels photovoltaic integrated into the glass roof and a solar thermal system for the production of domestic hot water.

04 - FORMER BRUNELLESCHI

REVITALIZATION OF THE FORMER BRUNELLESCHI FACTORY AREA

URBAN PLANNING PROJECT

My role within the group was to analyze the site’s history and characteristics, with the goal of repurposing the preserved buildings into a commercial hub and transforming the space freed by the demolished structures into a residential area.

In the area cleared by the demolition of the irrecoverable factory buildings, the project proposes a series of volumes dedicated to social housing.

The new buildings are oriented differently from the original structures to distinguish the public spaces from the newly designed private residences. These new blocks are strategically divided at their center to create an internal pedestrian pathway, visually linking the two factory buildings with the historic chimney.

05 - GIORGIO BASSANI ARCHIVE

ARCHIVE FOR THE WRITINGS AND WORKS OF GIORGIO BASSANI

2021 | 1st semester | Ferrara, Italy

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

The project aime to realize what Bassani writes in a first note of the Finzi Contini, in which he describes a path that from the outside of a palace in Ferrara, leads through various tunnels and stairs to rooms that are gradually darker, up to a very bright atrium that precedes the garden.

On the ground floor, spaces have been generated gradually less and less luminous, starting from a large opening, that follows the form of the bastion, leading through the archive to a staircase towards the first floor, where, finally, there is a very bright foyer, completing a path that from a soft light leads to a more intense natural light.

06 - MOSQUE

PROJECT OF FLORENCE’S MOSQUE

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

My task was to create a center for Muslim culture. I studied Muslim traditions and religion and brought them back to architecture.

This project aims to build a mosque within the perimeter of a former prison in the center of Florence, the spaces are transformed into a room for ablutions and classrooms for teaching the Koran.

In the inner courtyard of the prison, now used as a parking lot, the mosque emerges with a volume that respects the pre-existing axes of the prison and the axis of the wall facing the Qibla. This creates an externally fan-shaped opening that welcomes visitors inside the complex.
