Planning for Connectivity: An Overview

LET’S START WITH THE CHALLENGE.

Our lives continue to be more digitally connected than ever, we are generating more and more data, and our reliance on technology continues at swift pace.

Between 2021 and 2022 our mobile data usage as a nation grew 40% (to 17.6GB per sim per month), putting Australia into third place in the fastest growing data markets around the world.

But ironically, as mobile data consumption increases at significant pace, digital infrastructure planning isn’t changing.

And the core issue here is that without effective integrated planning of wireless digital connectivity, our ability to maintain a level of service as population grows and data consumption increases will be challenged.

But for effective integrated planning of digital connectivity to be realised, deep collaboration among many stakeholders is required.

And we must do better at designing and delivering infrastructure that is of high quality and respects community values.

But to do so we must treat and value digital connectivity differently to what it is now.

We must move to a model of planning for connectivity, like any other infrastructure.

AND THE INDARA SOLUTION?

We call it planning for connectivity.

It’s a strategic and data-driven approach that starts with insights, and then enhanced with shared public data from government.

In collaboration, we plan for connectivity at a city and region wide level, with community benefit in mind.

Precinct by precinct, site by site we work to shape optimum connectivity and digital services outcomes that create value and enhance community benefit.

We use our full portfolio of enablers, and design expertise, to bring the best solution to a connectivity challenge.

This can help deliver better levels of mobile connectivity to communities, boost reliability in connectivity for businesses and help bridge the digital divide many are experiencing.

Help us break the mould, and make connectivity planning a process integrated with the planning of our cities.

Let’s Collaborate...

THE PLANNING FOR CONNECTIVITY PRINCIPLES

Collaboration

We value the benefits that come from true collaboration, and commit to being a transparent and values-driven stakeholder

Through the use of Digital Infrastructure Agreements and similar tools, we memorialise a commitment to shared outcomes

In partnership with landowners, we bring data insights to life, supporting the work of place managers and assets owners

We are committed to the best outcomes, and therefore seek to have skin in the game, offering co-investment opportunities that reduce CAPEX burden and optimise OPEX outcomes

MORE INFORMATION

As a global leader in integrated digital infrastructure design and enablers in the public realm, our full design expertise is on offer

In addition to backbone connectivity, we work with landowners to activate digital services that support use cases to common urban challenges

Helping support the digital economy and our collective prosperity is key, and we are focused on creating value from digital connectivity and data insights for all
