Dear Friends of the Arts,
On behalf of the Cincinnati Arts Association and First Financial Bank Broadway in Cincinnati season, presented by TriHealth, I am delighted to welcome you back once again to the Aronoff Center and to A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, the last production in our 24/25 Broadway in Cincinnati Season!
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, A Beautiful Noise is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chartbusting, show-stopping American rock icon. Like Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical before it, A Beautiful Noise is an inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir set to the songs that defined his astonishing career, including “America,” “Forever in Blue Jeans,” “Solitary Man,” “I Am… I Said,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” and of course, “Sweet Caroline”!
We are very excited about our recently announced 25/26 Broadway in Cincinnati Season – “A Season that Dreams are Made of” –featuring six Cincinnati premieres and the much-anticipated returns of Hamilton and Disney’s The Lion King! With ten shows, it will be one of our biggest Broadway seasons ever. In the words of Neil Diamond – “Good times never seemed so good… SO GOOD… SO GOOD… SO GOOD!”
Thank you so much for joining us today. If we can assist you in any way, please let one of our ushers or team members know. We look forward to seeing you back at the Aronoff Center again soon. Enjoy the show!

NICK FRADIANI BRINGS CHILDHOOD MEMORIES OF NEIL DIAMOND TO A BEAUTIFUL NOISE
STORY BY Darryn King
Nick Fradiani, the singer-songwriter and Season 14 "American Idol" winner, was three or four years old when he first saw Neil Diamond live—his first concert experience.
If Fradiani was too young to remember the concert all these years later, he has many distinct memories of bonding with his musician father over a shared love of Diamond’s music. “My whole life was going out and watching my dad gig and play at different places—he would always do Neil Diamond music,” Fradiani told Tamsen Fadal on “The Broadway Show.” Diamond’s The Christmas Album was big at home around Christmastime too, the singer’s smooth, earthy tones and distinctive phrasing making a big impression on the young Nick. “Me and my dad would jokingly sing in the Neil voice: ‘O come, o come Emmanuel…’”
All that childhood practice has come seriously in handy. Fradiani made his Broadway debut portraying Neil Diamond—the singer-songwrier

behind such evergreen hits as “Sweet Caroline,” “Cherry, Cherry,” “Red Red Wine” and “I’m a Believer”— in A Beautiful Noise on the Main Stem. He now leads the national touring production, bringing those Diamond hits to theatres across America.
It’s been a good excuse for Fradiani to resume his Neil Diamond studies in earnest. He spent a year and a half analyzing videos on YouTube and absorbing Diamond’s voice (speaking and singing), mannerisms and general aura. “You want to do it justice every night.”
None of that research prepared Fradiani for the experience of meeting the man himself. “It was more just kind of being in awe,” said Fradiani. “Just being in his presence was really cool.”
If A Beautiful Noise is a culminating moment for Fradiani, the same could be said for Diamond himself. Around 1989—when Fradiani saw Diamond in concert— the singer was set to work on a film project about his experiences as a young contract songwriter, based on his album Beautiful Noise. That movie project never materialized, but the new musical explores that chapter of Diamond’s life and much more besides.
“I’m glad that people are getting to see his real story,” said Fradiani. “This is the first time it’s really been told and this is how he wanted it to be told.”
“It feels like I’m back in a band, where you have the wins together, you have the losses together—you create something together.”
Nick Fradiani
A few years after his first musical—the national tour of A Bronx Tale in 2019—Fradiani feels totally at home in musical theatre. “I just fell in love with it. I’ve fallen in love with the acting side of it and the camaraderie of the cast and everything. It feels like I’m back in a band, where you have the wins together, you have the losses together—you create something together.”
Plus, Nick and his father have gotten to bond over the music, just like in the old days. “I think it’s probably been the most proud I’ve ever seen my dad—when he comes and gets to see me do these songs.”

Helping the community thrive
How does a bank become embedded in the communities it serves? Just as you see in the theater, it comes from being flexible to deliver successfull
That could mean helping a local entrepreneur get started with a guidance for a client sharpening their savings habits. Trusted wealth for retirement. Or expertise for a business owner looking to create and execute a succession plan. The team at Cincinnati-based First Financial Bank understands that all clients are really friends and neighbors and takes the extra steps to help with their financial well-being.
Helping communities thrive is an approach that’s woven into every action the team makes. And it’s why First Financial Bank and its associates donated $2.9 million and 6,477 volunteer hours to organizations in Greater Cincinnati in 2024, as an ongoing demonstration of the bank’s commitment to the community.
“First Financial is thrilled to continue creating opportunities for clients and communities to thrive, and we appreciate the many individuals and groups who work closely with us to make a positive and lasting impact,” said Roddell McCullough, chief corporate responsibility officer for First Financial Bank.
Throughout its four-state footprint of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois, First Financial donated a total of more than $4.6 million last year. Team members also donated 14,871 volunteer hours, many of them taking advantage of First Financial’s Give First Program, which provides employees with volunteer time to help make lives better for others. First Financial is also working under its Community Benefits Agreement for the period of 2024-2028, with a commitment of $2.4 billion in lending and investments to low- and moderate-income clients and census tracts.
It's a special combination of focus on community and financial capabilities to support clients at any point along their journey. And on top of it all, First Financial is proud to call Cincinnati home.

LETTER FROM NEIL
The idea of a Broadway musical about my life has always been a daunting one. It wasn’t until the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease prematurely ended my touring career that I started to seriously consider the prospect. I say “prematurely” because my heart and soul would tour until the day I die if only my body would cooperate. My friend and longtime producer Bob Gaudio had some success with his little show, Jersey Boys (perhaps you’ve heard of it?), so I went to him for some guidance on where to begin. Bob brought in Ken Davenport and together they built the incredible creative team that became, A Beautiful Noise.
When Anthony McCarten came on board, we spent hours talking. It was his idea to frame the show in the context of therapy sessions. I loved the idea and never shied away from talking about my years of psychoanalysis. There used to be a stigma around talking about mental health and thankfully through the years, it’s become an important and accepted topic of conversation.
Sitting in the theatre and watching the show has itself been therapeutic: reliving some joyful and some of the painful parts of my life, wishing perhaps that if I could only make a few edits in the script, it would change some of the reality of what I was seeing. But in the end, coming to terms with my life and accepting it has somehow come full circle. I feel fortunate and full of gratitude for all the people in my life. It is each of them who have impacted and shaped me in their own way to get me to the place where I am now…a better man. A better father. A better husband. A better songwriter.
I’d like to thank Marcia and Jaye, this story wouldn’t be possible without you. My children and grandchildren for your most important supporting roles in my life. My wife, Katie, who encouraged me to keep going through this process and finally, to Dr. Lu Katzman, my longtime therapist who inspired this story. May she rest in peace.
Neil Diamond
