EDITORIAL

A career means different things to different people. To some, it is an end point: It is a statement of ambition, for instance, I must become the CEO of this company. To others, it means the landmarks on the way: I must become regional manager in two years and GM in three years thereafter. To most, it is a combination. But, these are all ‘destinations’ and not the 'journey'.

To the wise, it means the enjoyment and experiences of work. A career is not a destination, it is the journey. So what kind of a journey must you have? The answer is, ‘a journey which you enjoy’. You can excel with consistency only at tasks that you enjoy. Conversely, you cannot excel with consistency at tasks that you do not enjoy. Enjoyment does not mean that the task is easy, or that you know how to do it, quite the reverse.

You enjoy doing things that challenge you sufficiently, yet are instructive to you, that engage you. For instance, selling to a difficult customer, debugging a production issue, configuring a least costly solution to a problem, etc. It is engaging to you for your own reason, some others may hate the same tasks.

INAUGURATION DAY 26th August, 2019 was a red letter day for Emvigo Technologies. Nearly 12 years since I took my leap of faith and started off with our first venture which was a product company and 7 years since we started Emvigo, we moved into our new office spaces purely on customer revenues. It was a proud day for all associated and we have all surely come a long way!

A CHAMPION IS DEFINED NOT BY THIER WINS BUT BY HOW THEY CAN RECOVER WHEN THEY FALL - SERENA WILLIAMS -

This is an awe-inspiring line by the 23-time Grand Slam Winner Serena Williams - an apt line for not just Emvigo but all start-ups around the world.

Nearly 12 years ago Emvigo in its former self began operations in Cochin and rented the first floor of a house in Kalamassery. We soon moved to Technopark, Trivandrum as we got selected for the incubation cell program which was operating only in Trivandrum at that time in the state. We were one of the first start-ups in the state at that time. This was before the start up boom that we see now. After 8 years in Trivandrum we decided to move back to Cochin and resume operations here.

Aug 26th and the inauguration function was memorable on many accounts. As I was travelling for work I did not get an opportunity to see the space and the interior dĂŠcor and I was purposefully kept away from the same. I saw the space for the first time on August 25th and I was blown away.

Kudos to Kenneth, Sreejith, Arun, Nithin Alex, Rajmohan and the rest of the HR and Admin team for pulling this together. The Inauguration function itself was short and sweet, just the people who have stood by us and supported us over the years which includes family and associates along with KFC officials and of course fellow colleagues who made this possible.

I want to conclude by reminding everybody that over the past 12 years, Emvigo has seen the highs and lows that start-ups and SME’s go through. As they say success has many friends while failure has none. Over the years Emvigo has had its fair share of failures and success’s. Many of our long serving colleagues bear testimony to this. The reason I mentioned this is because I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that what you see today did not happen overnight.

A lot of blood, sweat and toil has gone into shaping Emvigo to what it is today and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed over the years. This would not have happened without you guys! Also at the same time I want to remind everyone that our journey is just starting and we will need more of the same to grow this company to the next level.

years the one traveled along this trip is my favourite.

I am rewriting a few ofthe details today. 6 years after the trip and the scenic beauty still fresh in my mind.

The best part is that you don’t need a high-end camera to capture beauty.

Every curve along the route gave us such vivid beauty of nature!

The Ladakh region is filled with nature’s wonders makes one feel peaceful and closer to Paradise. The color-changing Pangong Lake, to Nubra valley camp stay – between the vegetation, the cold dessert in this climate was magical with camel rides. The highest motorable path, Khardungla Pass was an experience in itself.

Not to mention the extra respect towards the heroes of our nation working in their full spirits from clearing away the landslides on the roads and watching the weather and warning tourists, which comes along with their major job of protecting the valley.

One of the army members joined us on our way back from Pangong lake until a few kilometers to a place to be able to make a phone call to his family – Huge respect!

Best Time to Visit: June to October. (Our trip was around the end of July).

Traveling with kids is not advised – it’s hard to manage ourselves, kids can get unwell and uneasy.

Mode of Transport: Land – Manali – Ladakh (this is easier as you climb the altitude gradually)

Day 1: Start early morning. Manali to Jespa 140km 6/7 hrs drivethrough the picturesque Manali-Leh High way, after crossing the Rohtang Pass at 13134 ft Overnight in Jespa Padma Lodge, altitude, 3500m.

Day 5: Transfer to Nubra Valley. 140 km from Leh 4/5 hrs drive to visit the cold desert and enjoy the pleasure of Camel riding.

Overnight stay at Mystique Meadows It is situated in the north of the Ladakh region. The average altitude of the valley is about 10,000 ft above the sea level. The main settlement area along the Shayok River and the Siachen River. The river belt areas are sandy and the vegetative cover includes green farm risk and myricaria.

On the Indian side, the lake is 40 miles in length and nearly 2-4 miles in width- the majority lies on the Chinese side of the border. It is said that 75%of the Lake is in China andonly 25% is in India.

The landscape on the way to Pangong is spectacular. This large, serene lakeat an altitude of 13,930 ft. above sea level has a brilliant color variationincluding deep blue, turquoise, etc. Ober night Camp at Pangong Deluxe Camp. At Pangong lake Bar Headed Geese, Brahmani Ducks are common birds.

Day 8: Return to Leh and overnight stay.

Day 9: Leh – Delhi, airport drop.

Return to Leh and overnight stay. Visit other places in and around Leh.

Kallumakkaya Nirachathu Kallumakkaya nirachathu is my favourite malabar snack.These are rich in flavour,aroma and has its own distinguished taste.For preparing kallumakkaya nirachathu mussels are stuffed with rice flour mixture, steam cook and marinate in a spicy masala.

Turmericpowder - 1/2 tsp

Riceflour - 500 g

Salt - to taste
