With inspiration from the filtering capabilities of the Giant Larvaceans, the project aims to filter sunlight and enable users to do various outdoor activities throughout the day. This project’s context takes place in the year 2080 where Singapore faces land shortage. Hence, the project is developed upwards and situates on top of an under-utilized multi-storey carpark in a residential area.

The structure can be accessed from the neighboring HDB flat or by the existing carpark lift.
The design aims to draw residents of all ages residing around the community centre. Hence, activities are planned to target various age groups and promote intermingling. As Singapore is moving towards car-lite, I wanted to promote cycling in my design. Ramps of 1:20 gradient surrounds the building’s facade to enable cyclists to cycle up the building comfortably, coupled with plenty of bicycle parking spaces on every floor.
