SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE

Read the scriptures aloud and discuss these questions in your group:
1) Read the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20. Name four actions commanded of the disciples. Which one do you think is most central to the mission? Why?

2) How are the disciples instructed to make disciples? Of whom? What resources? To what end?
3) How do you think the Great Commission applies to believers today?
4) Read 2 Corinthians 4:18. What does it mean to fix our eyes on Jesus? Why is this important?
5) Share some practical ways you can apply these two scriptures in your life this week (making disciples and fixing eyes on Jesus)?

Read the scripture aloud and discuss these questions in your group:
1) It’s important to follow God’s promptings. Share how God prompted you in the past? What was the impact?

2) Read Romans 10:8-15. For whom is salvation intended? What specifics are named in this passage?
3) What do you notice about the order of how people find salvation in Jesus (vs 14-15)? What does that mean for us?
4) Pastor Darin gave a few other examples of how God gives specific order to scriptural promises such as 1) sewing then reaping, 2) forgiving then forgiveness, 3) tithing then generosity, and 4) giving then receiving. Where have you been tempted to get the order wrong concerning scriptural promises?
5) How does God want to use you in fulfilling the Great Commission?

Read the scriptures aloud and discuss these questions in your group:
1) Read Isaiah 6:8. Why do we sometimes think “send me” only means “send me to the other side of the world”?

2) How can a posture of “send me” be applicable to everyone? Where do you think the Lord wants to send you? (workplace, neighborhood, etc)
3) Have you ever felt unworthy to minister? How does surrendering to Jesus make a difference?
4) The Barretts said to focus on hope not horror. What do you think this means? Why is hope so important?
5) Read Proverbs 31:8-9. Who is this scripture referring to? What can you do this week to make a difference?
